Do stocks follow Nifty Index ?

Do stock prices really follow Nifty Index on NSE ? For example if Nifty Index is up 10 pts in the last 10min, does it generally mean that stock prices will rise in the next 10 min & vice versa ?

No they do not. And they should not.
Nifty is measured as real time weighted average of 50 stock prices on NSE.
Pls refer on NSE website on how nifty is calculated.
