Goldman Sachs' Indian holdings

As you know, Goldman Sachs has been pulled up by SEC for subprime fraud and may have to pay heavy penalties. This was the main reason why US markets tanked yesterday (Fri, 16/4/2010). This may have a psychological effect on GS's holdings in India and stocks like LIC housing finance, United Phosphorus, Lanco Infra and about 40 other companies may face a selloff on Monday. Is this an opportunity to buy?

And what are the companies GS is holding? Any idea?

Could you put a date stamp on these figures. Do they reflect values as at the end of the last quarter?

Also, is there a way to get holdings less than 1% (that may be substantial in the case of larger caps)?

Pls DO NOT DRAW any conclusions from the Goldman Sachs holdings which you may see in the media or various stock exchange portals.
Most of these positions are purely P-notes holdings... which means the underlying clients will be various global funds.

Apart from the ones mentioned, the P-note will also surely have exposure to almost all large caps as Goldman caters to tens of global clients.

The market may temporarily open lower due to sentiment, but shouldn't be seen as a sign that Goldman will offload all these positions.

GS Has done a small fraud (as per their capacity, its small) They have not gone bankrupt or something, dont create unnecessary panic, even if proven guilty they can survive... stocks will fall of panic but not cause it has anything to do with SG holding for sure
