Thanks Ichimoku India for the thread. I'm a student of Ichimoku and it would be great to have discussions here with someone who has had much experience like you.
At the outset, I had a few questions I've been wanting to ask someone who is an expert in the subject.
1. The standard model being 9, 26 and 52 periods, do you think a different setup would work in an intraday setup? I have seen an AFL by Rajendran of Marketcalls with 3,12,18 period setup for intraday. The setup looked better to me than the standard model but I have not tried trading with it. Would be great to hear your thoughts on this.
2. Do you combine Ichimoku with any other indicator like ADX or Schotastics for extra confirmation?
Thanks in advance
Regards
KK
Hello KK
Thank you for your kind comments.
If you don't mind answering me this question:
You said you are an Ichimoku student. Who is your teacher / coach with regards to Ichimoku education? (Hopefully you do not mind answering that).
As very rightly said by you, the standard and original model / range of ichimoku is 9, 26 and 52. This set up works in all the time frames. Novice traders try to modify these numbers (not only with ichimoku, but will all the other indicators as well), because they feel they do not get the desired profit run from their trades. They forget that the profit runs are not based on the range settings but the time frame they are trading on. For example, a 5 minute chart will not be giving you the same results (in terms of risk and reward) as a 4 hour or maybe a daily chart would give. As long as you understand that the different time frame will bear different outcomes, the same settings will always work. Otherwise you will keep playing with different settings and will never be able to achieve being a master.
I am a pure Ichimoku follower. I do not add any indicator to my Ichimoku charts. Ichimoku is a complete indicator by itself. If you can master this indicator, you will never need another add on. My charts never ever have anything but original settings of Ichimoku.
Hope this helps.
