- First time investor/never been into stocks before! preparing for demat a/c.

- I won't be doing any day trading but only the delivery based on NSE only.

- I'd keep the stocks for atleast one year to avoid short capital gain tax.

- My primary focus is long-term; However, I guess to keep myself 'entertained', some* medium terms could be taken.

- I could trade once/twice a day in case of emergencies* but ideally once/twice a week etc.

- I plan to take a paid stock subscription from a reputed person, who is not a broker etc. he only suggest stocks based on fundamentals, in a weekly basis with a target amount etc. for short-med-long terms; he doesn't suggest any number of stocks to buy etc.

--

Okay, based on the above, I have the following requests to the community ~

1. Suggest if should I start with 1 lac or 2 lac or how much.

2. Given the amount, should I invest it all in the 1st week or how.

3. Suggest my initial portfolio of stocks! I read people do the core and satellite stocks to make a portfolio.

3a. Suggest number of shares per stock; with stop loss and profit target.

4. Anything else, atleast a Good luck?

Thanks in advance :)

@Oneday,

Since you have said you are a first time investor and long term investor,
to make things simpler - invest in a good mutual fund like hdfc top 200, hdfc equity etc.

Good Luck.

Not in one go but gradually.

Split your capital into atleast 10 parts. Keep 5 parts in a good interest yeilding instruments like Bank Deposits, Debt instruments or inflation proof things like gold until market throws up good opportunity to enter like follows.

1. Buy at present rate with 04 parts.

2. Whenever market plunges down by about 500 points, add 1 part.

3. Whenever market surges upwards by 500 points, take out 1 part.

You would experience the rythem of market in the process.:thumb:
