Is it worth buying FCPro?

I've used the trial version of FC Pro for a week and liked it.
Some of the formulas I tried out have given outstanding results and I am quite happy with the program itself.

BUT,
Amibroker is only a little more expensive and somehow in the Traderji forum,I get the vibe that Amibroker is some kind of Super TA software with the afls to predict everything.

I've tried Amibroker too but found it a little complicated. Maybe it will take some more time for me to get around Amibroker.

Just wanted your suggestions. I only trade on EOD, not much intraday and am happy with FCharts. Should I go ahead and buy the Pro version?

Hi

I am using FCharts Pro since June 2004 and it is excellent.

The finer aspects of investment and trading will have to be learnt and practiced manually e.g. support/resistance, candlestick patterns, fibonacci levels, elliott wave principles and their interpretation etc. I am not sure anyone has ever published a software that could become a substitute for human brain.

Several user defined methods and indicators were/are in use. I say 'were' because these worked during certain market conditions and failed at other times. The best strategy is to study each and every chart and find out what works well and whether it is suitable for investment while considering factors like risk/reward ratio, holding time etc.

Please visit this link in case you wish to know how taking a long position could be tricky.

The formulae may give outstanding results when the trend is clear and strong. The objective is to pick the winners in a sideways, dull or bear market! You may backtest your formulae for the same scrip or another scrip, possibly a year or two ago and arrive at a conclusion.

To buy this or for that matter any software is entirely your decision.

If little extra money is not a problem, buy Amibroker instead. I have not used FCPro but Amibroker is widely used in our community. This means you will get wide community support and help, data vendors, AFL, etc.

Thanks for your honesty.

.... ... but Amibroker is widely used in our community.
Undoubtedly true.

This means you will get wide community support and help, data vendors, AFL, etc.
Or is it simply that Amibroker has been around longer and more people in the TraderJi community have been accustomed to using it. It you want to find the 'most popular' charting program, try Metastock.

By your definition, it beats Amibroker hands down.

I.e. your 'definition' is definitely open to debate - and since you have no first hand knowledge of FCP, you are hardly qualified to speak on the matter.

Your comment should simply be taken by others as 'an opinion'. (For the record, I am biased the other way.)
