Physical vs Demat

I was going through the ANNUAL report of CHEVIOT few days back.It is mainly
into Jute and a calcutta-based company.66% of shares are in PHYSICAL mode
and rest in DEMAT mode, which is quite low.It is always better to have in
DEMAT mode.

Hello Columbus Sir,

If you go through the Shareholding Pattern of the Company, you would find that about 75% of the equity is held by the Promoters...... Of this 57% is held by "Harsh Investments Pvt. Ltd." which is its Holding Company........ I think it's Okay for the Promoters to hold the shares in Physical Mode......

BTW, it's located in Park Street..... I pass by there everyday.... Never noticed it.......

Hi Aditya,

Most of the companies have the same pattern,Bulk with Promoters and rest
with Retail investors. In other words ,large portions are held by few people
and Large retail investors hold tiny fraction.Still many companies have demat
mode shares in excess of 90%.

I do not know ,many people are afraid of buying shares of companies based
in Kolkatta ,(Labour problem ,Union problems????).I am having this company
for 4 or 5 years.I had another company ElectroSteel Castings,I sold in
profit before Split.

I do not recommand ,CHEVIOT at this juncture ,but it is a good fundamental
pick.
