Yes, a small % increase, but across many areas, so in-effect total can be a significant sum for many.

A few years back, this service tax was started with a meagre 2% and only on few services. Then it was raised slowly slowly to this level and now includes a lot of services.
Dont worry, this is not the end, when GST will be implemented, this service tax will be clubbed with GST, with a rate somewhere around 20%, may be +/- 1-2 percent.
