Another Bhavcopy Downloader (ABCD)

Kaly, if you are using Amibroker, open NSENIFTY. Then Open window -- symbol information. Enter NIFTY50 in the 'Alias' field. Similarly enter NIFTYBANK in Alias of BANKNIFTY and do the same for other 8 - 10 indexes you use. Amibroker will happily update those scrips from index files.

There are 3000 + scrips in BSE and 1000 + in NSE. You have been updating database even if 80% of them are useless. There are only 37 indices currently in Indices file. Just ignore whichever you do not use. I can not determine which once are useful and which are not from everybody's perspective.

if i enter nifty 50 in the alias field ,will nsenifty merged with nifty 50.
and symbol will be nifty 50?

Downloader is not updating data in metastock. I am giving bhavcopy and ABC date formats. How to configure downloader to update data.

Data not updating in metastock. Getting warning.

Warning #864 : Missing/invalid DATE. Record will not be stored

Difference is in date format. Ymd in Getbhavcopy and Y-m-d in ABCD. I shall change it today.

Edit - I have changed date format to Ymd. Download setup again and check.

josh another facter nse future symbol is given as expiry date.
if it is possible to have eg NIFTY-I ,BANKNIFTY-I format in ticker?
any way main indices be nifty,banknifty,nsemidcap,nseit, midcap50,nse100,nse500,nsedifty etc.

That will be a very complex task. I don't want to get into it at present. You can use Alias field to do it.

i think u will update latter this software,pls think about it or if u provide chek box option for indices as in hakija or nse eod datadownloader(rohit).
it is just a suggestion.
any way i have learnt about format file by ur thread and may want ur suggestion about a csv format file for the data i use mainly now

I have already given the format file in first post.

Symbol will remain as NSENIFTY. However, data for NIFTY50 will be updated into it. Note- there is no space between NIFTY50.

Great work @josh1 for the indices.

I was trying to download the indices manually from the NSE site and edit them in excel!
Unfortunately NSE now allows only a max of 365 days download as CSV in one go,
making this quite a painful endeavor.

Your utility makes a file per day in a jiffy and I can directly import this.

Thanks again for saving me a ton of effort.. 35 files per year - from Index inception -
you get the gist.

Hi Josh - is there any possibility to have a separate Indices Only downloader (for indices data prior to Oct 2012 - because after that ABCD is able to download).

I need EOD data for all indices since beginning, but don't want to download entire stocks data.

Or is there any other easy way out ?

It does download indices data prior to Oct 2012. Check Indices radio button.
Uncheck all others. However, names of indices are different.

Download and merge scrips. This is one time exercise for you. I don't want to do complicated coding for that.

P.S. - Some times ABCD gives error message- "Server made a boo boo ......NSE Indices not found" even if file is there. That is a bug which I have to resolve.
For now, you can download two three times to obtain all the files.
