I know you are talking about realtime data.... But you can also try Chartnexus... It's an EOD Data Software and very good as a Free Product.... No hassle software in my opinion.... Just a bit slow at startup because its coded in Java..... No other issues at all.... :)

I am also learning how to analyse the candlestick chart, here can we define the marked one is a Hammer, from that point it is gained well.
Good to see that you are learning about the candlesticks.

A hammer has bullish implications in a downtrend. So, you should look for a
hammer in a downtrend..

Just google about hammer, you will get lot of reading material.

hi joy, a hammer shd have a long tail: after a downtrend, bears try to keep pushing own prices (long dark candle is in formative stages) but the bulls fight back, pushing back the closing price back close to opg price - hence the long tail.

to begin with u can read steve nison's book - it xplains the rationale behind candlestick formations. :)

also, earlier posts in this thread shd assist.

cheers and good luck :)

signed up with icharts y'day (free version). I tried drawing trendlines and "saving preferences"; but when i try to load preferences, the trendlines vanish. is there a way to drawtrendlines and save them, so that we dont have to draw them everytime we login?

Maybe... you can try using FCharts Free Version.... I have used it earlier, and I think this should solve your problem temporarily..... But a little bit of manual work would be required....

1. Download FCharts from here....

2. Download Joyda's DataDownloader from here... You would be able to use it to download Intraday Data (1min) from GoogleFinance....

3. Import the data downloaded into FCharts.... Go through the manual on how to import the data.... If you are not able to get it.... I would try my best to explain the steps.... ;)

So, whenever you wish to update your Database in FCharts, download the Data from GoogleFinance with DataDownloader and import it into FCharts.... GoogleFinance provides 1min data for last 15 Trading Sessions....
