not to sound in defence or something but if agilent cracked it into a joke then people posting after him or telling agilent that he was harsh could have jolly well explained the guy what he wanted to know instead of correcting agilent...comeon guys...

Ok, so come on baron.
Let me point out to you what is obvious:
From the responses of Jaideep, aca_trader, bharatk8, and mine, it's very clear that at the point these were written the primary concern was not addressing huineng's query so much, which in any case would have been addressed and which aca_trader did eventually so graciously.
The concern was with the 'joke' which Agilent cracked, as you put it.
I'm certain all of us who responded the way we did, possess a fine sense of humour and enjoy a good laugh.
Agilent's joke was in dreadfully poor form, and all of us felt deeply indignant for it. We are all responsible and sensible, and when faced with this kind of a crass put-down of someone new to our business and asking for genuine help, by another fellow member, it naturally brought out the show of displeasure.
And Agilent continued to rub it in, in his subsequent unrepenting posts which are as farcical as the first: NO. This forum is NOT an open house for uncouth behaviour.
Articulation and the use of the English language are not the issue here as a lot of the members use all sorts of abbreviations and expressions to put forth their point. No one in their honesty really missed what huineng was asking, obviously including Agilent.
And if articulation in English is the vital criteria here, then a lot of the members who have contributed so very admirably in making this forum what it is, would have long been disqualified and Agilent himself is not above such a scrutiny, including yourself for all your contribution.
In an ideal state, it's the lack of ethicality and respect for others, which should be the grounds for instant expulsion.

And, come on baron.
Rather than leaving a cocky, jeering little smirk behind as a response, you too could well have explained to huineng what he wanted to know, if you couldn’t see what was going on. Or rather, you actually saw what was going on but chose to add your own little ovation.

So baron, this is the last from me to you on this matter.
For the rest, this really is an open forum so post as you please.

Agree with you Amit. Agilent's reply and attitude to a newcomer is downright disgusting and deplorable. This kind of reply to a members first post would definitely drive him out of the forum.

I wish to register a very strong protest of your attitude towards fellow members. If you are not keen to help please dont. But do refrain from sarcasm. Just look at Ashish's reply. That attitude is worth emulating.

And Baron's sense of humour is appalling.

neverthless, after spending so much time in the forum, let's be broad minded and magnanimous to the new comers.

lets us pardon their small mistakes and help them in our own way, not by cracking jokes but helping them really.

nothing much to say, as the whole world said in this thread already.

Also, I am back after 3 weeks break... will post more about the exciting time i had in hyderabad..and with some fellow traders whom i could meet.

Nothing wrong if a person wants to ask a question on a forum rather than conducting a search on google. At least he can then expect a specific and informed reply from experienced seniors who are always ready to share their expertise and knowledge, which cannot be found in many other places on the world wide web. Just visit moneycontrol's message board and see the crap that gets passed around out there. Till now traderji was the only one forum where one did NOT find such unpleasantness/sarcasm/snooty behaviour. Such behaviour is only making the seniors here more and more disillusioned and wanting to withdraw themselves from active participation. If that really happens we all will be losers and then all that will be left will be people the likes of who populate forums like moneycontrol.

An appeal to all to please refrain from indulging in such high handed behaviour which treats newcomers like nothing. Remember everyone goes thru this stage and so have all of us. Dont forget your infancy and behave like mature grown ups.

hi all,
this thread, a clarification sought on a few basic terms in investing by a recent entrant, is clearly blown out of proportions, and no longer is a thread on 'price band' and 'freezing'.

this forum, i have been thinking is a forum of learning and sharing. the learner is placed first and the sharer next. none is a perpectual sharer and today's sharer too was a learner in this forun or elsewhere.

my appeal to all juniors:
please go through the previous threads where lot of information is already available. you can use the search feature to get lot of information on any topic. by this way you get required information much faster and may be you will get lot of views on the same topic. if you repeat a question which has already been answered in the forum, is is a clear overload to those with an interest to answer. (i am not sure if these two terms are already explained earlier.)

my appeal to seniors:
Yes. It's true, some times a few members ask clarification on some basic terms, not to test the knowledge of the seniors, but out of their own ignorance. Also it's true that not all sharers will be with a frame of mind fittest to give an answer they can be proud of. Speech is silver but silence is golden, sometimes.

my appeal to traderji:
i am finding threads are being opened with a very short life-span, may be one question and one answer. such threads are being opened mostly by juniors. A thread with a title like "Your basic questions on trading : seniors will answer here" may be opened by traderji where all who wanted to know on some basic issues may post their questions. seniors including traderji may post answers. This will ultimately turn-out to be the FAQ.

i don't mean to hurt anyone by this answer.

Huineng will surely understand the value of forum that his questions have elicited responses of varying depth .

Agilent surely meant it to be a joke I think.

Murthy's suggestion is well timed and should be implemented. I am also not aware of many terminologies and sometimes quwstions do get unanswered. but the one can always browse through the pages of the forum and gain considerable knowledge without going anywhere else.

Let us keep the warmth of the forum that brings diverse personalities together to share and ...

Here goes :
1. Price range
2. Imposing a (price ?) ceiling or a floor ... can also mean the process of converting water to ice (for enjoying a peg later) ... also used metaphorically , when u say u want to freeze a memory ... e.g. of having made lots of money in a scrip ( or ... in a different context.. in a script)
3. A greeting intended to show appreciation to the other person ... can also be used sarcastically at times
4. A very common Indian surname ...sometimes even a name (but none has been known to duplicate it like 'Jerome K Jerome' ... a famous erstwhile B'lore based bureaucrat ... , I mean no one calls himself 'Kumar R. Kumar')

Agilent,agilent.......a caustic,sarcastic reply indeed.Best to search your own conscience whether any of the above post was even a tad bit amusing.......hurtful reply and all it goes to show is tthat you think too highly of yourself and others as lesser mortals.

Nothing funny....I feel hurt for Kumar,and I feel sad for you........think that either old age or some other experience in life has left you a disturbed and bitter personality.

None of what I said may be true,and you could be one of those people who find everything in life something to criticise and laugh at.............whatever you are all about,it's all in poor taste.

Kumar,the rest of us DO NOT belittle a newcomer for being at his level of growth,we DO NOT believe that sarcasm is amusing,we BELIEVE in learning and sharing what little we know.

Good suggestion, Murthy. I can start another forum titled Q & A where newcomers can ask questions on trading/investing for the more experienced members to answer.

However would the more experienced members be willing to answer the queries? (most of you are doing an excellent job already). Feedback from the experienced members would be appreciated in this regard.
