Charges other than Brokerage for Stock Exchange Transactions

Some brokerage houses are rounding brokerage. For eg, if your brokerage is 5.65 it will be rounded off to 6. Some charge brokerage maintenance charges but offer free software.. what a scam? And the software charges are levied per segment per month by few.

Believe you are talking about Angel. Some other thkngd to consider are min brokerage per share (difficult to compare across brokers-makes buying low prices shares short term tricky), min brokerage per segment I think Angel charges. Which ones are you talking about.
When starting out we see they things but since all is not disclosed clearly unless we ask makes one angry. Some brokerages expect larger volume trades so a flat rate is charges problem arises then if your volumes varies.
Who charges brokerage maintenance charges? Sounds new...each brokerage has different ways of recovering the fees- presently call n trade may be around 499 for some after 5 free calls.

I could understand the calculation when I red, but I have confusion when I apply it in practical. So if you don't mine, here I have given an example data, can you give me the calculation of STT, Transaction charges, Turnover Charges, Stamp Duty, and Service tax on below mentioned data. If I see the calculation with that data, I can easily understand.

Share name:AAA
No. of shares: 15
Price per share: Rs. 933.09330
Net amount : 13, 996.40
Brokerage : 0.01%
Holding

Thanks in advance.

Charges other than Brokerage for Stock Exchange Transactions

Are you a day trader or active trader? One of the most pertinent question you should ask yourself is - What is your trading cost? Simple question, but not so simple answer. Did you just say - “30 paisa for Delivery and 3 paisa for F&O”. Wait, have you considered all the charges you are paying for executing trades on stock exchange. Quite often you recall and consider only your brokerage cost. But there are so many other charges which are levied on Stock exchange transactions apart from brokerage.

Take Check out the contract note and examine. You will see the following charges in addition to Brokerage charges – Securities Transaction Tax (STT), Stamp Duty and Other Charges. In most of the cases the break up of “Other Charges” is not provided, but note it consists of Transaction Charges and SEBI Turnover Charges. Then there is also Service Tax which is levied on all the charges except STT.

More often than not, when you are taking close intra-day trading calls, where the margins are wafer thin, you should have complete grasp of what your costs are going to be for a particular trade.
