This may attract some harsh remarks, but I will anyway say it.

India, as a society, has regressed back to the dark ages. The culprit, in my opinion, are population and poverty, and joke of a political system adds fuel to that fire. People don't have means to fulfil their basic physiological needs, like food, home and intimate companionship. They don't have means to satisfy their ego in a productive manner. That's why the mob mentality comes. They jump in to show their power whenever they get a chance. This explains frequent rioting, mob behaviour, cruelty to fellow humans, cruelty to animals (this example and latest killing of rhino in Kaziranga), domestic violence, disrespect to people in lower social strata and so on.

Empathy, consciousness and common sense have all disappeared, more so after armies from middle east started invading from 8th-9th centuries. One of the greatest and longest running societies in modern man's history disappeared, and today we don't even see a mere shadow of that.

Truely, we are a "noisy democracy" ....Jai Hind !!

Resident rat grounds AI Dreamliner for 3rd time this month

One of Air India's Dreamliners has an unwelcome tenant. Spotted off and on, the rat has disrupted flights at least thrice this month, the last instance on Saturday. The aircraft, worth Rs 1,500 crore (at current prices), has been fumigated repeatedly and rat traps have been laid but there is no shooing away the rodent. Either it's one rat that has stood its ground, say sources, or new ones have hopped aboard.

One of the richest and most powerful men in Brazil, Thane Chiquinho Scarpa, made waves when he announced plans to bury his million-dollar Bentley, so he could drive around his afterlife in style. He received lots of media attention, mostly negative and was severely criticized for the extravagant gesture and wasting of a precious commodity. Why wouldn’t he donate the car to charity? How out of touch with reality is this guy? He still went ahead with the ceremony.

But, there’s a twist. (Of course there is. Why else would I be covering this story?)

Moments before lowering the car in the ground prepared for the burial of his Bentley,he declared that he wouldn't bury his car and then revealed his genuine motive for the drama: Just to create awareness for organ donation.

“People condemn me because I wanted to bury a million dollar Bentley, in fact most people bury something a lot more valuable than my car,” Scarpa said during a speech at the ceremony. “They bury hearts, livers, lungs, eyes, kidneys. This is absurd. So many people waiting for a transplant and you bury your healthy organs that could save so many lives!”

Worth a thought !!

The 2011 survey report by the University of Agricultural Sciences says that food worth 400 crore rupees are wasted every year in social gatherings in Bengaluru.

Shivkumar has tied up with almost 100 marriage halls in the city. Putting the food in large containers, it reaches around 20,000 people through his vehicle dedicated for this service. He received around 120 calls on the eve of Akshay Tritya and collected food from almost 40 halls and went ahead to feed 28,000 slum dwellers.

His good deeds do not end just here as he also supplies fresh drinking water at over 80 bus stands. In addition, to that, he has also built 20 built shelters.

He says, “I have asked my employees to plant two saplings a day and to water them daily. The forest department has assured me that they would supply 1,000 saplings,” he said in a report published in The New Indian Express.
