Hi ST da & Seniors,
Had one question about Day Trading.

I have come across some quotes by traders like Larry Connors and others who said that day trading is extremely taxing and its like growing old by 5 years in 1 years time. But somehow I beg to disagree.

Why ? Because, as of quoted Trading is performance based activity like sports. So if professional trading is like a SPORT activity, more like a performance related affair then we have always seen SPORTS players emotionally enjoying their play as they keep on playing more and more. They retire not because of emotions but due to two reasons:

1. Because of bodily limitations and thus the fitness problem &
2. Because of not able to perform upto increased expectations of their fans.

But these are not the issues in trading as nobody is expecting too much from you (except may be you yourself) & bodily fitness is also not so demanding

As far as the mental fitness goes, if we stick to one strategy or so , its easy to make same decisions on same strategy and not so hard over a period of practise of years..

So my question is : Is it hard to be a day traders for years together?

Thanks & Regards,

It really depends on whether one enjoys daytrading or he is forced to do daytrading by necessity of earning money, low trading capital etc. Daytrading is taxing if you make it taxing. If you expect too rigid performance standards also it can be taxing as you have to catch each move at optimum level. I like trading and I am never too strict on myself regarding the performance expectation...all that I expect myself to do is be long in uptrend and be short in downtrends....and even if I catch the move 8 points late, it is ok with me. So if the model trades make 400 points in a month and I make 300...I am still very happy that I played a game which I like and I got paid for playing it.

For me trading is fun and not a race against something or someone....
