re: Day trading Nifty & Banknifty Futures

I was explaining some basic concept of trading to my colleague and suddenly he asked me a question " How can you sell withput buying ?"I answered in different method but still he is confused....Can anyone explain in layman language.....
One police officer from economic offence wing went to my trader friend to take help in solving a financial bungling case. The accused had lost huge money in speculation and the police guy was trying to understand how exactly it was done...he had got copies of brokers contract notes, ledgers but still he was lost in the trading part.

My friend explained him that he sold 25 contracts of Reliance.....the next question was where is Reliance ? He never has any Reliance, so how can he sell ? Is he selling others property ? that is another offence...so F& O was explained to him and he still was not convinced...he kept on saying " it is like someone selling Tajmahal of Agra without owning it...how can it be done...."

Later he accepted that short selling concept...but then said all that is fine but he lost so much money where is "muddemaal" or the stolen property so that he can produce that in the court as evidence something like chori ka maal....then my friend told him all these are speculative losses and there is no muddemaal.....it is all mark to market losses.....he found it very difficult to explain all the process....and police found it difficult to understand and believe.

Better explain him with daily need commodity ( like Onion).
Suppose today's mkt price of it is 60rs/kg. and ur friend jalota requires it on 31 st dec.He is of view that price will be 100 on that day.
And Anup got information of bumper crop coming to markets just before christmas....so Anup and Jalota go in agreement...........go on like this.
Exactly, XUV-500. This is how I explain the futures to the others. I tell them that you are not delivering the shares today. You will deliver the shares on 26th December (or whatever the expiry date). That I expect the price to go down by that date so that I can buy them from someone cheaper and deliver them to you on the expiry day :)

Explaining options is a ***** :).
Are they going to bring down the inflation ?
Simple, without Sharad Pawar, the inflation will come down naturally :).

Are they going to bring down the inflation ?

Are they going to change the PETROL/Diesel price linking with the commodity markets ?

Are they going to correct the
A) spectrum scam ?
B) COAL Scam
C) Common wealth Game scam
D) Military Helicopter scam

Many others which I dont know :D

Are they going to change their stand on Srilanka for the killings of tamils even after several protests in TN.

Will they going to change their stand in AP - Telengana issue ?

Will they change the inefficient PM ?

Will they remove the 100 days minimum work scheme ?

They are already prepared for the defeat.
What they really want is a hung assembly so that the next govt shouldn't complete the next full 5 years term so that they can again play the Stability,Secularism blah blah and fool people again.
Hi Jagankris,
You are correct but every voter will not know all these sins, what evry voter knows is kande ka bhav.aloo.chaval.gas cylinder and that they will correct in 2 months,I really love these months when the elections are round the corner, evry thing of daily need becomes very reasonably priced and thats what AAP has understood well.
