dear all sirji's and experts..i went to a gold shop and they selling me a new idea.put your gold for a year and get 5% return on value of gold after one year...my question to financial experts / busyiness mans here..whats the loogic behind this ones..how does the shop make money...is it not if gold price goes up they are loss
Gold ornaments or Gold coins ?

Okay, sorry for the questions but it's important.

So, you will get your gold back and get a 5% return on the current value of gold?
Maybe they get some business benefit by showing higher stock.

After the initial gapdown market started doing ding dong..I dont know why some punters are expecting Manmohan singh speech to be the game changer for todays nifty..yes it might go up,Holding some calls..MMS plz dont disaapoint me..Give some good news, lets see

Well, then it's not too bad for you. Consider it a "Gold Savings Bank". You get your gold back plus 5%.

I guess times are bad for the jeweler with all the import restrictions on gold at present. So, they buy gold from you and MAY sell it to the other buyer (if it's just coins) or keep your gold as collateral with the exporter so as not to deal in rupees / cash, probably the later. Once they sell the gold to the new customer they keep the cash in a FD or a savings bank.

When the import restrictions are lifted, say a year from now they will pay back the exporter in cash, free the collateral gold and return it to you plus the 5% they earn from savings (more if FD).
