re: Day trading Nifty & Banknifty Futures

Today Nifty Future was sideways. If someone traded a trend following method, it is a loosing day for him. If someone followed methods for sideways such as trading breakout/breakdown failures, it was a good day for him.

A small loss day for me in NF . A few scratch trades.....

So according to your post, the once which had overnight positions in your market had the best day, but also the biggest risk, isn't it?

Yes , but as of yesterday's closing we were in an uptrend. Overnight positions carry the risk of various overseas data, centralbank actions, rating agencies downloads, currency fluctuations, US attacking Syria etc etc ..so the risk is large in present global environments.

positional traders made a killing in august in one way downtrend but how they are surviving in september god knows , one day nifty falls 250 points like there is no tomorrow and then covers 300 points on upside with 120 gap up, with BNF 10% rise , short traders SL must be in between...........

Yes August was the best months for daytraders too....best in last 6 months.

Let us see what September brings us....will be a good month as last 4-5 months have been good for daytrading too...

So with other words: All the people which tell they made a killing today must have had overnight positions, as Nifty and BNF openend with incredible gapps or must be superb sideways market traders?

What did I miss or was the gap in BNF only 400 points and then the people had time to press the button to make the rest of 300 - 400 points?

The same in Nifty: Gap of 100 point and then the traders had time to enter the market with no clue if it runs up more.

Would mean: No rules behind that, nothing to see in advance that some thing like that will happen. Just a pure lucky game played with sufficient stop losses, isnt't it? If so, nothing bad, but just wondering.
