Always welcome, no problem, (but it should not be for the sake of criticism only).

Sorry, I really didnt get what (wrong) you want to point out in this sentence
"Now any further fall can take NF to 7744 and may be 7722"

re: Day trading Nifty & Banknifty Futures

Umesh,

Iam also poor in english .. i fear how i am going to explain my point here ..

ur statement using the word " any " ..

so obviously from 7744 any fall will lead to 7733 .. the next 10 points .. is in it ? it is a mathematical fact ...
instead if your statement avoid the word "any" .. like " now further fall to 7733 " to some extend having a meaning ..

or if your statement includes the word " any " then i think the target should be some what challenging like

" now any further fall to 7633 " ..then it having a meaning ..

ok dude .. leave it .. try to give some target of 100 points from market level on any direction .. my 2 cents ..

let me try again a chance .. market will fall tommorow more than 3% from this level .. means we will be around 7400 levels ..:thumb::thumb:

ST,
I think you said in one of the thread loss in F&O segment can be filed in ITR-4 section and carry forward to next year adjustments. Even loss in cash segment can be filed?

Thanks

Dear Vertigo,

I do not post any comment in the forum unless it is helpful or insightful, or at times, a small effort at humor. What I pointed out (or tried to) while responding to you, is to show something that is called hindsight bias, which is a common fallacy in thinking. This comment is in no way meant to be taken personally, and it would be sad to think that a person of your caliber (with whom I have interacted before) would take it as such.

Secondly what I have said is that one cannot foretell the market's reaction to what can be a 'good' budget (defining what is good is subjective by itself) The market has run up a lot in expectation, and even a good budget can be a reason for the market to fall on profit booking. We have too many examples of good news being discounted by the markets - 'good' quarterly results are case in point.

My 2C. And apologies if you found my post as a criticism of your knowledge.

RESPECTED DSM, please criticize only after fully knowing fully about anything, i respect you and dont expect you to make comments based on assumptions.

Nothing wrong in Rail budget...traders blaming rail budget for todays drop. The market has run up a very decent upmove and was getting heavy at the top.The correction would have come even with good rail/main budget.

The worry now is if the correction starts before the main budget and we knockoff 100-150 points more, then the fall after the main budget will be limited. But the market has to do the time correction also so few days of grinding downmove which will be very boring...

It will be interesting to see how the market unfolds.

My take on cash segment loss is as under :

1) If you are daytrading in cash segment ( without taking delivery most of the time ) then the profit/loss from such a trading is classified as "Speculative Profit/loss....." and if can be set off only against speculative profits/loss during the year. It cannot be carried forward.

2) If you are taking delivery and selling after few days, the profit/loss is considered as a short term profit/ loss. It can be set off against only short term capital gains. It cannot be carried forward to future years.

F & O loss is considered as business loss and hence it can be carried forward to 6 subsequent years and set off against the business profits from other businesses as well.

But better to get it confirmed from a CA....
