I just started to use RSI and wonder if always the rules are obeyed by the real trading...
Readings below 20 indicate oversold, readings over 80 indicate overbought, and 50 indicates the trend. If you are using it often please tell about your experience with RSI.
Thanks.

I have just started reading Ashwani Gujral's book "How to Make Money Trading Derivatives". Here, he mentions that MACD is the most reliable in trending markets, but it won't work in a trading market.

When compared against historical data using 3,10,16(instead of 12,26,9) I find MACD a very reliable indicator.

I have a difficulty finding whether the market will trending or range-bound trading one. Here, I use the converse of MACD. If BUY and SELL signals on MACD match with price movements, its a trending market, else its a trading market.

Thanks,
-Rohan.

Hi Teodor,
RSI is a oscillator and it is most effective in a trading market. The time frame in which you have written the post(Jan 2009), the market was trending. This may b the possible reason you could not get good success with RSI.
