Re: Dropping Internet connection, -source of problem, BSNL, servers, Modem, or Inver

I checked the values during ups and normal power. data is nearly same in both cases.
bandwidth up/down, kbits/s 997/3995(3998)
SNR up/down 8.5db/26db(24db)
Attenuation up/down 16.5 db /47 db
bracketed value during normal power.
Your values are all right though marginal, except for SNR upstream at 8.5 db (just above the minimum of 6 db), and downstream attenuation of 47 db.

You should
1. complain to VSNL about the high downstream attenuation of more than 40. They will probably change your junction connection to a better one.
2. Check your phone line, specially your splitter.
3. Keep a watch on these values during office/busy/UPS hours.

Other than that, not much to go by.

My values are:
Model Name T2-B-Gawv1.4U10Y-BI
Firmware Version 10.4.3.12.12
DSL Firmware Version E.25.41.64 A
Wireless Version 1.20
System Up time 00:04:13s

Internet Connection
DSL Status Connected
Last Failed 0x00000044
Downstream Data Rate 1949 kbps
Upstream Data Rate 836 kbps
Max Att Downstream Rate 10352 kbps
Max Att Upstream Rate 1196 kbps
SNR (Downstream) 34.50 dB
SNR (Upstream) 17.5 dB
Line Attentuation(Downstream) 30.5 dB
Line Attentuation(Upstream) 17.5 dB
Connected Standard ADSL2

Waht is your present ADSL modem make model no?
Now during working hours SNR has come still bad to up/down to 7.2/19.5
These values depend upon telephone lines only or modem also?

Sorry about that; it is a Terracom Model Name T2-B-Gawv1.4U10Y-BI. The MT841 is elsewhere, will not go there for a few days.

The values typically include line + modem. There is a differentiation called Local (after modem) and remote (line only) but I am unsure if that is reported by the MT841.

Sometimes Adapter causes problem. It costs hardly 200 Rs.Internet disruption is too frequent , give a try.
Recently my modem adapter gave me problem.I used to get interruptions 5 to 6
times in day. Finally adapter LED was not showing NOTHING.I purchased a new
Adapter. It is working fine.(Earlier I used to get disruptions in the morning only.)

I had a similar issue where buying a new modem ending up solving it for me.
