Experiments in Technical Analysis

Hi All

Work pressure had kept me away from the thread for some time. Pressure continues and I hope to be back in full form soon. :)

Meanwhile there is no harm in mixing TA with some Fun. Otherwise it becomes too boring. Here is a Indicator just for Fun.

I had always been impressed with the Heat Maps I saw on the Nasdaq and some US site. Was wondering if we can create something similar for our Indicators. So I created a heat map for some Indicators for Amibroker using some codes found on the net.

I am enclosing a image of the same. It contains three ribbons one each for MACD, RSI and Stochastic K. The color and intensity changes to green when the Indicators become positive and red when they become negative.

Finally there is a ribbon which is a combination of all the three. It looks nice. It gives a nice overall story. When all the bands turn green the stock is moving up and viceversa.

I dont know if this has some real value other than the fun part. Anyway Amibroker users can have some fun with this. The afl is enclosed and the parameters of the three indicators are adjustable.

Metastock users, sorry this cannot be implemented in your favorite software. Looks like it is time you switched to Amibroker .. :D

regards

Karthik

hi karthik,
on serious note, MS do allows plugins to be developed as per ones specifications. with software nothing is impossible. is there any plugins that can produce charts of different time frames in a single chart?

let me know.

cheers,
jdm.

You can use layout function of Metastock to view two charts of different periods simultaneously even without a plugin.

hi ashish,
i have the opportunity to see the screenshot of the layout while we were discussing the same in a chat.

but what i am referring here is a step forward. till date one cannot, atleast i am not aware of that, create an indicator based on two time frames. but it can be formulated by building an custom plugin.

cheers,

Joy,

I am not aware any plugin which allows plotting indicators of different time frames in a single window. Many be possible with metalib. I have not used it and it is a costly affair. Also till the time Metastock has a free programming facility these kind of thing seem impossible.

Guruji,

Metastock users winning does not look possible in the near future. :D
One cannot even pre define the colors of the indicators .. :D

hi karthik,
even i am not aware of any plugin. but with ajays word i do have a feeling that my unawareness will see the light soon.

by the way metalib doesn't costs a fortune. only $50 roughly Rs. 2800 have a check at the price list.

http://www.trading-tools.com/order.htm

and Metastock development kit is provided by Equis free of cost, provided you have a concrete plan. it is closely guarded by equis.

cheers,
jdm.
