Re: Reg. importing data into fibotrader

Hi,

I've installed fibotrader and imported all the files as you had said in your posts. I also updated the daily quotes using QuoteMan, for the past 1 month. But I find that only some of the scripts has the full data(ie till date including the last one month), others doesn't have the full data(the last month data is not updated).

Eg. Infosys script doesnt reflect the last one months data.

May I know what is the problem here?
Thanks,
Praveen.
i have uploaded the last one month (15th June '06 to 21st July '06) to rapidshare. try with that one.

Soumya,

1. If I import the last one months data, will it overwrite the old values correctly?
2. After the bonus issue, Infosys share prices had come down about 50%. What actions do we need to do in the chart, so that this update gets reflected? (so that the chart flows smoothly without the "big gap")

Thanks,
Praveen.

Actually you could simply delete the old data and import it afresh to make sure no complications arise. Instructions to delete bad data are provided by Soumya in one of the previous posts: http://www.traderji.com/52243-post111.html

See Sowmya's reply for a very similar question: http://www.traderji.com/52240-post108.html

Hi Soumya,

In the other thread Experiments with Technical Analysis (http://www.traderji.com/52229-post13.html), Karthik has explained a moving average based trading system.

I tried setting up a Fibotrader template that follows the trading system - can you please validate that the setup I made in Fibotrader is correct? For your reference, I've attached pictures of the object tree and definitions of various objects, with this post.

Thanks!

Hi Somya,

I have recently downloaded FIBO but am facing lot of problem with the data update. I have downloaded the one month date and tried to import the ASCII file with Quoteman. However non of the quotes are getting updated instead it adds NSE as a scrip. I am facing the same problem when I try to update the daily file.

I do not have any historical data, but intend to update once this problem is solved though I have copied the main file from your post.

Please help.

SKH

Hi Sarath,

forgive me for being late.
there is no wrong in your trading system. but i don't understand why did u add 'CrossesUp($Closebar,$13ema)' in Buy condition? when a buy signal will generate, i.e. signal line(9ema)>13ema, the close will definately above its 13ema.
eagerly waiting for your next trading strategy.

happy trading,
soumya

Soumya thanks a ton for your reply. No problem at all... there's always one thing available at a premium that's time...

Yes I realized that 'CrossesUp($Closebar,$13ema)' is actually a superflouous condition. I removed it and checked for the buy signals generated, no changed signals are given by the template. So that's it.

I'll try creating another template as per the new system Karthik described in the same 'TA Experiments' thread and share that here (in a day or two).
