Hi Soumya,

I expected this reaction from you. But I am not crticising or downgrading Fibo. My answers were specifically for Kalyan with respect his specific queries.

Ask Karthik & Murthy how they r enjoying .
For your information, I am also using Fibo in addition to Ami. What I find is Fibo is not as easy as Ami to work with in the absence of well documented help files. In my opinion, in any software product it should be possible to carry out work without refering to separate help file. What I mean is context sensitive menus and help. This is not available in Fibo to the extent it should be. But I am aware that Fibo is much younger compared to software like Ami or MS so we should not expect as much sofistication in Fibo as in the others. The basic drawback of Fibo is its speed. It uses MS Access database and Jet engine. It is both an advantage and disadvantage. Disadvantage because speed suffers. Advantage because the database can be manipulated with other tools like VB, MS Access, SQL etc. in addition to Fibo. Other software use proprietary databases which can not be handled by other software tools. Well, this is a feature useful for advanced users.

Another important feature that is missing is auto update of charts. When we add more data from the EOD files daily, the displayed charts are not updated automatically. We have to redraw the charts to see the new data plotted. As for scripting, some good examples in documentation would have been of use for new users. All softwares have a drawback with respect to scripts. It is a pity that different softwares use different scripting languages which compells the users to learn different languages to do the same job. If there were some standards for scripting languages, like in the case of computer languages (BASIC, FORTRAN, C, C++ etc.) it would be better for users. But that is a different aspect, not a problem with Fibo alone. Overall, Fibo is a good utility, and with some support and help from users in the forum, I hope it will evolve into a much better software and can give tough competetion to other estiblished software. I eagerly wait for that day to come.

In the absence of documentary help, the help you and Robert are giving is excellant and unparallelled.

Appreciating all the trouble you are taking to help us and no malice towards Fibo,

Regards

-Anant

We are following this discussion very attentively and will try to improve documentation as it was critizised a lot in here. We are a little surprised by that since we put a lot of effort in it and tried to come up with many examples and screenshots. As it seems, they can either not be found or are the wrong approach. Your input and recommendations are very welcome here.

Concerning auto updates: Of course Fibotrader can autoupdate charts, no question, simply not in the free version.

Concerning the scripting language: We think we have one of the very FEW programs which does not create its own language but uses a simplified visual basic to allow the user to quickly model ideas and not having to learn a new language.

Hi Fibotrader,

Thanks for your clarifications. I know you are following these columns and trying to implement suggestions from the users. This is a policy which will make the product more robust, more popular and useful. As I mentioned earlier, I am waiting for the day and I am sure with your efforts it will soon come when it will at least be at par with other popular TA software if not surpass them.

As for my comments on scripting, they were not particularly for Fibo but for all TA software. It is good that Fibo sticks to eastablished language instead of introducing its own vocabulary and syntax. It cuts down time for learning. But yes, the documentation needs improvement. At least in the paid version it should be well written document. The FREE version can limit some features and their description. We can not ask everything for free.

Hi Fibotrader,

I am facing a problem in getting sell signals on indicator (say RSI) crossing below trendlines drawn on the indicator chart. However I am getting buy/sell signals on cross of trendlines drawn on price chart.

For your information, the drawing is below the indicator and the 'Put drawing under main chart' option is not selected.

Let me know if I am doing something wrong.

Cheers
