Fundamental analysis -It is For Investor. in depth analysis of " in and out" of sector and pacific company, peek the stock in early stage,in low valuation is the motto F.A.Very difficult for retail investor to perform it in true sense ,it is a job of a professional analyst. For investing u have to take service of reputed analyst.

Technical analysis- It is better for a trader .T.A with money management is success mantra for a trader.

With Fundamental Analysis -

1) You make money when markets go up
2) You neither make money nor lose money when markets are stuck in a range
3) You lose money when the markets go down.

.. assuming you are in the right stocks.

With Technical Analysis,

1) You make money when the markets are going up
2) You lose money when the markets are stuck in a range
3) You make money when the markets are going down.

.. assuming you have proper trend following trading system in place.

With dividend growth stocks, you make money when the markets move up, you make money then they are in range, you make money when they are going down.

You are right. Some stocks from FMCG (ITC, Dabur, Colgate etc), Pharma (Sun Pharma, Cipla, Lupin etc) and consumer space (TTK prestige, Hawkins, Page Industries etc) seem to go Up and Up all the time.

But traders have a very powerful advantage of using derivatives and shorting. I wish we investors had the same. In the end we all are here to make money, no matter what the method.

I would like to share a fact on indian economy during 2002-2008 the era of excessive liquidity in international market which drive the share market around the world. and growth rate was near to 8%, Indian job growth was near to zero. means only big fishes makes money in this country when the stock market goes up.

now when the situation has worsen because of currency, inflation and liquidity(lesser loans). common peoples are suffering, ask yourself the price of food, rent and other thing.

in short stock market going up doesnot means country is improving..!!

add: after quantitative tapering when western nations will enter hyper inflation + recession (stagflation) which can stay for decade, situations can be very very worse here. to hedge against this, peoples should start investing
