I know many cities in india which offer the above. I have shortlisted ooty / kochi - since they are developed pretty well.

Yeah, that is true, but I don't have to spend on living expenses etc, so trade-off in my favour. Even I wouldn't mind a little mountain town (preferably like South Park ) if I have that kind of disposable income.

I think, it could get boring in the village after a little while unless you want to farm or have a lot of relatives/long term friends in the area.

Depends on the location. I can drive to Chandigarh in 30 mins, which is way less than intra-city travel these days.
