I also tested supertrend quite extensively for swing trading but found it not good enough ...does it work great for you ???
have you tried to evaluate, why it did not work for you? Dont want to post my main account ledger here as it will give rise to complications but posting some teaser for you from sandbox:

Started sandbox with 45k Rs

This is present status

This is PnL

I hope my ID is not visible in these images :D, just want to give you confidence that trading is profitable and the problem lies with me, myself which is not allowing it to happen.

Good ledger...steady profits with occasional small losses.

Post your method and MM in members discussion area..so that no one will be able to disturb...and you have a choice of ignoring any question.I can even arrange to lock the thread once you are done with your posting.

I feel really bad when I see so many young traders struggling and we have no special love or affection for ITF or any other system ...anything simple which makes money is needed by most here.

Truly said sir,
Simplycity is the GOD.we need to find simple things not complex one.Even scientists says that this universe code could be written only in ONE line.

Would like to know more about how you use MM and psychology ideas
Kindly consider starting thread as suggested by ST
:thumb:
The basic ideas remain the same:

1. Dont run from one system to other system
2. dont run from one TF to other TF
3. dont run from script to script
4. dont increase position size when you got some good move in ur favour
5. dont run away from a system when it has given you continuous whipsaws, infact its best time to raise position sizing.
6. Maintain a separate trading account for testing trade ideas (which stand BACKTESTED already), may be with little capital of 50-100k. This ensures that you do not play with your money with a new idea.
take only well tested ideas to your main account (1-2 year bar replay and successful 3-4 months sandbox live trading)
7. try to have some mentor and dont tell lies to him. Accept that you took trades without system.

Do you know why i am copy paste? Because my all trades are copy paste of previous trades which my system is giving. No deviation what so ever from system.

My set ups are well defined. i have 2 accounts, 1 with my local broker where i can open positions worth 2-3 crores of margin required (PRO Account) and second is my sandbox testing account with RKSV (this is my trading sand box and here i do the real trade testing with ideas which i have back tested and found ok in bar replay)

i have 3 methods:

1. supertrend on BNF on 5TF with 8period ATR and 3.5 multiplier. i leave half of my position at profit of 70-80 points rest i ride and allow the system to hit stoploss. (asked query to suri even today on super trend :) )

2. second is NF positional system that is similar levels to 8DMA NF trading system posted in this forum by gobipcin. (running in rough patch atm, it has hit 4-5 SLs in row atm)

3. i write nifty option pairs, this is where my major energy gets utilized. (No pair writing on sandbox account as it has limited margin. Started this FY with 100k Rs in this account and its alreading sitting on 133k profit :)
Can you throw some light on third one - as very little said on this topic - it's an interesting area if played correctly - limited risk limited profit - but can give consistent returns - which compounded can make life simpler

My views are different ST da. I have done both kind of trading i.e. discretionary as well as mechanical. (i was part of team blue at TSF so very well know IDF-VPs and all that stuff). Considering your experience with trading and the number of years spent on trading, you can always say that the performance of mech systems is mediocre as compared to IDF or the other systems you are using. BUT for a newbie trader for whom the target is remaining positive, mech trading systems are not bad, provided he has thoroughly back tested the system. By backtesting i mean running bar replay and not through afls back testing.

Further i would advice to newbies to stop jumping from one TF to other, one script to other when their system is giving chop-zone.
Any good articles/links on concepts of these backtesting - bar testing versus AFL

Consider a dummy here for your answer :)
