General Trading Chat

Read in another thread that someone made 175 % on his capital and then finally lost all the gains and ended up in 45% loss.....is it trading or gambling?all this within 1 week......

All talks of mm,trade management etc is not for intelligent looking discussions but they are to be implemented in our trading.

I know the signs of this 'disease'
Must be:
A newbee
No trading plan
No discipline, over trading
No stop loss at all
Fishing in future market with 55x leverage
Never saw a chart before taking a position
Undue expectations from market
Thinking of self as astute and others as below intelligence
And many more

St sir.. asking out of curiosity..
is it even possible to achieve 25-50% per week with following proper MM and not over leveraging/ over trading..??
I request all members to share their opinion:
out of curiosity, my doubt is , what is meaning of over trading actually,?
I m following crude oil trading thread. one member's system gives more than 20 valid trade signals per day. So is it over trading?

I see all the above qualities in most of my friends. Only relying on tips and over-leveraging without knowledge.

Most of them are badly beaten up since the fall started in Jan. Lots of horror stories everywhere. Its like children playing with loaded guns.

Here are the following three ways to diagnose whether or not you’re overtrading. Here’s what non-successful traders do and you want to make sure you’re not one of them

They’re looking for action. Meaning instead of following a high probability trading methodology, they’re taking trades on hunches with no statistical edges.

They subscribe to multiple newsletters (most without written, fully disclosed, track records) and they are at the same time watching the business channels looking for hot ideas. How is this any different than going to a racetrack and buying all the tout selections and also asking strangers “who they like”?

They trade for the rush. The more trades they do the better they feel. Behavioral psychologists refer to this as compulsive behavior and it’s a serious weakness in any profession or activity.

The good news is that traders like this have existed since the beginning of the markets and will be there forever. They often provide the high probability opportunities by emotionally reacting to prices, allowing markets to become even more overbought and oversold and providing the edges for those who are on the other side of the trade.

If you see yourself doing any of the above, learn to stop by keeping a journal which allows you to constantly monitor and reflect upon your behavior in order to change it. And if you are solid with your discipline and the above is not an issue, you’re in the very good position to take advantage of the many traders who do overtrade.

Good topic for enlightenment..
Scalping systems can generate more than 10 trades in crude. if again filters applied can reduce to 50-60%, like taking only trades on major trend side.

for Disciplined and system followers:
if system generates 20 or more trades should take all trades otherwise it would be a rule break and expectancy might reduce

If system is proper, Back tested and have proper MM rules then number of trades it generates are simply out come does not matter weather 20 -30 . and in my opinion it might not called over trading..

So Over trading is the out come of breaking the rules jumping in to trade early with out confirmation, resulting in many unnecessary trades..this is my opinion

I bought nifty put 7450 @ 90 Rs on 8.2.16 and sold at 250 Rs on 10.2.16. 177% gain, sold when there was no sell call generated by system. then lost 5k on 11.2.16 due to wrong entry.

now sitting idle and waiting for system to generate entry. learned that stick with your own system and same time frame before booking profit/loss.
