behaved like a newbie

sold 23400 calls at around 17-18 , wanted to leave it for 0 , heart kept pounding , got opportunity to cover at below 1 rs , did it now

sometimes market will turn and go much higher suddenly , why for 1 rs gain lose 5 or 6 or 10 rs ??

month or 2 ago market surged 200 points in 7 minutes at 2.58 pm , 1-2 rs calls went on to make high of 120-130

Today while settling my sell trade I had to place buy order for 9598, yet I typed 9698 and suffered. IN my 3 years (including a pause of 10months) of day-trading, this is the second time I have done such a disgusting thing.

My question is -- Is this unique to me or others too have experienced such disturbing moments in their career?

You did not tell exactly how much points you suffered due to this?

Because it's just like a market order and nifty liquidity will not allow to suffer much......... So the question remains, how much you suffered?

I suffered a loss of almost 100 points. I too am surprised how the order got filled so fast.

But here is the thing -- I was trading at NSE paathashala, and not with real money; but believe me it makes me as nervous as when I trade with my real money. That is why I have decided now to continue with Paathashala, until I get hold of my trading mind. The first time I did this, while trading with my broker I had lost about Rs. 2,000.


It was not loss of money, but my own failure as a trader that I found difficult to come to terms with and was looking for some reassurance on that count; so nicely provided Timepass Sir.

By the way, overall I have so far lost around Rs. 1 lakh in day-trading with my broker.

Bro, loss of confidence in yourself is the most costly loss, IMHO.

Just a sec.. I didn't say that the "loss" happens regularly. I meant that the "fat finger" happens regularly with me. Once I did suffer a big loss due to a fat finger in futures, but the losses due to this have been rare.

Still, it is human. Don't flog yourself much about it. Be more careful in future.
