is it so that if SAR is hit during 1st 5min bar we dont take it and wait for next bar or the high I have mentioned is not a pivot ???
Please clarify.
I went long but didnt mention during mkt hours to avoid confusion.

Saw that as well in the morning myself....glad to see that someone spotted it.

Basically,yesterday,as in Monday, was a simple straight down move.....we therefore have our eyes on the 2 bar method.Which is the high of the 2pm bar of Monday(also a mini pivot).We then have a gap against our position today.The opening bar goes on past our area of 2 bar stop.Many times,that first bar goes on to break down and proceed to newer lows.And sometimes the reverse.Therefore,allow that first bar to form......and reverse once that first bar high is taken out.

Next bar takes out the high,but not our filter......Finally the 3pm bar pushes our filter,and SAR is hit.Reversal to long.

Reversal back to short below the 2pm bar low.

Not wrong in what you did .....a tad bit aggressive though as that first bar can trap us into its tail both ways and take us for a spin.Personally would wait till the 5min bar forms fully.

Disclaimer:Talking about a straight dntrend,2 bar method,and a gap up with first bar going past our area of stops.Same pattern reversed,would not wait for the first bar to form.Would jump straight in and reverse within that first bar itself.Example:Monday first bar if took out the 2 bar stop of Friday,would not wait for 5min,etc.

I am just amazed at the reaction of some members here ..it is not the first time that market move zig-zag..we are traders or school going kids who fighting over who broke the window pane...?

We have fix rules ..we have done backtesting & we know that result will very from time to time..market was , are & will always be volatile..but doesn't we know the system with which we can handle this volatility?
& if we unable to handle that volatility then there is problem in either the system or in follower of that specific system....

What we have done is absolutely right & exactly acc to rules .we have done two good trades ..they are profitable or not totally different thing..

It is very easy to talk after seeing the right side of the chart but live trades are of different sorts..we can never know that bar which takes our sar will finish at top or at bottom..our job is following the market at that VERY time so the use of words " should have/would have " is totally useless afterwards..

These are just my views & not towards any specific members ..

srini ,why did we have 2 pm bar for SAR when the 3 pm bar was not a wrb(it had big wick).
we should have not made that 2 pm bar as SAR to go short.

Wick or no wick,that 2pm bar is pivot enough for reversal.

I went short because of breakout bar breakdown.. i.e. breakout bar (3 pm) - filter

Excellent Max.......and to top it all,a pivot at 2pm as well.

Yes, I think we jumped the gun. The SAR should have remained Low-f . In future lets post a chart and SAR lvl only at end of the hour.

The moment the highs were taken out,that 2pm bar became our latest pivot low.Therefore the chart by Srini......Great going Srini,well done!

What a zigzag movements for past 4 days.We can expect some good movement at either side.

And wasn't it sweet....these moves over the last few days....therefore the need for the 2 bar method and not just reliance on pivots alone.

Hello Sir

So we treat Gap Downs and Gap Ups differently.

Case :Holding Short Position, Visual Gap Up, and High of the first bar is above SAR:

Action: Shift the SAR to First 5 Minutes High + Big F.

Case :Holding Long Position, Visual Gap Down and the Low is below SAR:

Action: Treat it as Reversal, and execute the Trade at market

I am enclosing four charts of nifty. pls confirm which chart has valid pivot high and pivot low for 60 min flow method
