Re: Intraday Miniflow Trades for Today: Saint's Method

The confusion is only whether we consider first move as down and use larger moving filter for triggering short trade and use small filter for triggering long trade as if it was 2nd move of the day.

The first ( 10:00 ) bar was 2824/2810 range. Then 10:30 bar made a outside bar so no clear direction,so continue with large moving filter on both sides. Then 11:00 and 11:30 bars if you see,the body of the bar is still in 10:00 bar range so no clear move away from 10 :00 bar which was our reference bar.

Even a long trade (by using small filter) triggered in Kapil's chart was at a level which was in 10:00 bar range. So the move should be considered as sideways move and a larger moving filter applied to both sides. After 11:00 bar we also have 10:30 high as PH . In 12:00 bar the long trade was missed by large moving filter and also even if you consider small filter and PH for entry. The long entry not triggered.

In my view the long trade was triggered in 2:00 bar above 12:00 bar PH +f and add above 2:00 bar high that was the only trade yesterday.

Best Wishes,

Re: Intraday Miniflow Trades for Today: Saint's Method

I have seen Saint's post in the live thread which meant that the he had considered the first few bars as sideways. But I have posted the trade the way I did the trades during the day. The 11 o'clock bar made a LH and LL, after which the high of this bar was taken out. So, I considered that this upmove is definitely not the 1st move, and used small filter over high of 11 o'clock.

At the time I went into trade we already had a PH, so going long above the PH + small filter would have been the correct thing to do. But this was again not triggered and the trade triggered only on break of the PH 2836+small filter.

ST has already given his views, why the first few bars should have been considered sideways move. Another reason could be that a marginal LL could be considered as sideways. It would be great to see Saint's notes on this.

thks...my trade was wrong then as per rules.
1 more thing i want to ask...
u can take the 1st trade using pivot high + F & also using high of the bar + F.
as soon asthe pivot high is formed then taking the trade using the bar high + f gets nullified...i hope im correct.

Kapil,

As per my chart (Sharekhan) 11 am bar hi is 2816.95 and 11:30 bar hi is 2820.70 - wonder what short filter you use to get a long trade triggered above 11 am bar. Now are you shifting your filters on every bar irrespective of its movement? As per my understanding, after 11 am PH was made by 10:30 hi and PL was made by 11 am lo. So our filters (big filter or small filter as per the price movement) to enter should have been there not at 11 am bar hi or even 11:30 bar hi.

This thread, to my mind, is to follow Saint's rules and not individual tweaks or trades. Your trade this time was eventually profitable but here the point is that it is not as per the rules of miniflow.

I had in fact hinted Rakesh to comment on your entry to long above 11am bar which I have still not understood and to my mind is not as per the rules - if they are then an explanatory note may kindly be put up otherwise this chart may be removed as it is not as per the rules we are following and will lead to confusion.

Thanks

Bee

Bee,

Yes you are right with the levels. The trade triggered above the 11.30 bar and not above 11 o'clock bar. Sorry for the goof up.

Coming to whether once PH and PL are formed, whether we should go long or short as per the bar high or low, I have already posted my views in my previous post.

I agree that I made the wrong trade and that I have mentioned in my post, but that was the way I traded today. I do have a habit of making mistakes and learning from markets. I did not apply any tweak from my side, its just that maybe I made a wrong trade. I knew that I had made a wrong trade when I saw Saint's post in Live thread, but then it was necessary to post this as many had made similar mistake and a word from Saint and others would make things crystal clear.

Kapil, my friend, we are all learning. All this discussion will lead to better clarity. Anyway one fall out of this is that people have started to go beyond rules into the principles of price movement which is a higher level but fraught with pitfalls. Incorporating tweaks without back testing will lead to problems.

Happy trading
