won't solve purpose if there is genuine message exchange - requesting senders to mention name here in thread or in message itself next time if they seriously want the receiver to know & understand message properly & in context

OFF TOPIC:

there's one more way of sending very very short PM - and sender has to specify his name, otherwise it will appear annonymous...
or sender can just post here to receiver that "message sent"...

On top-right corner of every post, besides the post #, there's one balance scale icon "add appreciation"...
if u click here, then u can send a short sms to the receiver in the pop up box.
maybe email ID or website address or phone number or whatever short & sweet

The person who designed / wrote this message board software would have never thought that this feature can be used for sms

LAST OFF-TOPIC MEESAGE FOR TODAY (SORRY)...

this system was in existence when there was no "thanks button"....
i used to appreciate my seniors/mentors by using this button & expressing my gratitude...
(I think Thanks button came around 6-8 months back)

PM being disabled has its reasons, but genuine users have difficulty in communicating personal things...
Say, if I want to talk to vineet & I don't know his mobile number & he does not have my email address, then I can request him using this method...

receiver sees the message on clicking "USER CP" on top-left of every thread page

If it is used to convey get well soon,happy birthday etc messages than it will keep the thread tidy.
