LVGandhi & my dear friend Ratan Jain,

you were plain lucky today, as the actual SAR was 2897-7

in 15min chart, we had 4 PLs one after the other:
11:15 = 2896
11:45 = 2894
12:15 = 2897
12:45 = 2908

u spotted all those pivot lows in 15min... fine

let's see our 30min chart
(BTW, 30min is the TF we are trading)


we have a PL 2894 (12:00 bar)
so, now that 11:15 PL 2896 becomes irrelevant...
we have our SAR at 2894 (in both 15 & 30)...

now, let's see what happened after 12:00 till 1:00
we get our PLs in 15min chart 2897 (12:15) & 2908 (12:45)

look at the formation of 12:30, 1:00, 1:30 bars.... in 30min charts
a WRB followed by an inside bar & then a nothing bar...
which of these bars would threaten that WRB.... no one....
that WRB has to bend (low has to break) to cause a REVERSAL OF THE FLOW....

that WRB's (12:30 in 30min) low 2897 is the KEY SAR level to break to cause a reversal in flow
later in 60min chart too, the WRB (13:00)'s low = 2897 also supports our SAR...

so, the actual SAR was 2897-7
and not 2908-7

However When there is doubt in 30 min TF regarding reversal, I see 15 min TF. 12:45 bar low is a clear Pivot Low as it started to come dn from 12:00, made a low of 2907 at 12:45 bar and went up by 3 bars upto 13:30 bars. Hence 12:45 bar is very much valid pivot. If we follow only 60 min then 2894 is PL. I feel Pivots are better reversal points.

I totally agree with you that 12:45 bar was a pivot low on 15 min TF ,no two opinions on that ,but the point is whether we should consider this PL on 15 as a reversal point. I also agree with you that pivots have preference over other things but with a qualifier that pivot on lower TF should have atleast confirmation from 30 min or 60 min. Any pivot on 15 is not a SAR point Here most of us are making a mistake.

I totally agree with Sunil and he has given his reasoning in a bar by bar analysis of why PL on 15 should not be considered as a SAR point.See 30 min bar after this PL and what do we see ? 1:00 bar a hammer with long tail and 1:30 bar a white candle so no bearish confirmation from 30. What do we have on 60 ? A white candle at 1:00 so no confirmation here also. Hence 12:45 bar though a PL on 15, not a valid reversal point.

When I was trading these bars,I would have reversed on the following scenario :

A WRB on 30 was formed at 12:30 bar with a very high volume so my SAR was below low of this bar less 7 =2898-7=2891. If we had a negating bar which would have closed lower than 50% of this WRB candle and the next bar takes out a low of this resting bar,we would have reversed. But 1:00 and 1:30 bars on 30 min did not obliedge,so our SAR remained at WRB bar low less space or at 2891 which was subsequently cracked and we went short.

Hope I am able to communicate my thinking in the above post.

Friends Sunil is communicating a very important point.Please study that carefully.
