in center of no mans land there is a line,called pivot line,for bulls it is pivot support for bears it is pivot resistance,we must remember that when move is in confirmed trend either long or short,then both parties protect it at pivot line in place of lower support or upper resistance line,now dear hardik i will wait for your reply, weather this concept of protection is very clear to you or not,after that i will continue THIS IS THE PRE REQUIREMENT OF NEXT LESSON:to be continued
Yes Sir, the concept of upper resistance lower support and protection done by bulls and bears and cleared

Thank you sir

Nifty @ 5534.20
[High=5546.90, Low=5475.30, Close=5534.20, LTP=5536.50]

P.P = 5518.80

R1=5562.30, R2=5590.40, R3=5633.90
S1=5490.70, S2=5447.20, S3=5419.10

Sir, I got this pivot point, resis and support
Is it right???.......

Actually I calculate by simplest method....

Now, If we go by protection concept then,
5490 to 5562 is No Man's Land
Now bulls have to save 5518.80 as its pivot support.
for short trend bear have to break 5518.80.
For confirmed short trend it bear have to break 5490....

Am I right sir??

I think for prices before 22:00 (actually between 18:00 and 22:00) I can use PP of time frame 14:00 to 18:00???

I think for prices before 23:30 (or till next day market opening) I can use PP of time frame 18:00 to 22:00???

For trading between market opening (or 11:00 or 12:00) and 14:00, is using EOD PP normal practice?

Sharekhan has closing prices only at these times on 4 hour frame:
11:00
14:00
18:00
22:00
23:30

Is it normal practice to use 11:00 to 14:00 for calculating PP of trades between 14:00 and 18:00? (Edit, I calculated PP using 11:00 to 14:00 time frame and the S1 was accurate for Zinc between 14:00 and 18:00.)

Hope Ashwani is ok, he has been quiet or away today.

If I'm trading or want to make a move after 20:30 or a particular time, I think it is ok to calculate PP from the last 4 hours from that particular time (PP from time frame of 16:30 to 20:30 for trading after 20:30) ???

How are you setting 4 hr timeframe to start at 11...first bar comes at 12,16,20...

When I set Stoch at 240 minutes, the closing prices I get is for:

1400 (13:59)
18:00
22:00
23:29

I think in my hurry to find out a way to calculate trading PP for between 1400 and 1800, I calculated prices between time frame of 11:00 (replacing 10:00 with 11:00) and 14:00 and it seemed accurate.

I found the pivot point formula:
(Previous day's High + Low + Closing) / 3 = Pivot Point

I wasn't sure that was the correct formula until I remembered one of ya (I think it was Ashwani's or Cotton's) posts. I thought that there was a more advanced formula for pivot points and support levels.

Now when I re-read the thread with the proper method of how to calculate pivot points, I can have a stronger grasp of the concepts previously explained without misconceptions.

I think that Monday's pivot points (and support and resistance levels) are calculated from Friday's price points since Saturdays tend to have almost no movement?

The insights of the bulls and bears behavior at resistance and support levels is very interesting information that I hope I can get value from.

Edit:

If I'm correct, today's PP for Zinc is 101.02 (based on Friday's prices, I first miscalculated it as 101.93) and it is probably a bull market today since the previous day's highest price and the closing price is almost the same.
your first judgement was perfect,at present you have to use the formula which you have given in above post but all matured traders use very advanced formula for pivot/support/resistance( including me)but you will have to spent some more months to study,before you are in a position to catch these formula from there mind
