Punter has mentioned Holding Statement of CDSL.... Therefore gave the possible solution.... and another thing there is always a paper trail.... just need a little elbow grease and determination.... How about Bank Pass Book ....

If It is physical Certificate, it is even easier...there will be details at the back of transfer and date

No statements ... seems some old physical scrip purchase which was later converted to demat.
Or some sort of valuation at purchase time, to get some old accounts right maybe ..

No sire, you are reading too much into my forthright question. No such thing is the case.

But in any case I've now began to feel if folks are imputing motives, doubting the reason behind my question and making wild guess on it, I think for that I've myself to blame. Maybe I constructed the question a bit naively and directly. Would be careful next time. Have learned a lesson about how simple things can be perceived and interpreted by people otherwise sometimes. Will take care of that.
