Dear XTalk,
I have been using NSE & BSE EOD Downloader v3.0 for some time and program runs smoothly and stably, making output into a single file.
The simplicity lies in just selecting the FromDate and the ToDate and pressing the download button WITHOUT any user selectable options.
The single output file makes the importing into TA software like FC or AB also very simple.
On using for a good time, I found adding a few more featuires will make it a great application, without much loss to its simplicity.
I list my observations as below and you may please look into the possibility of incorporating them.
1) Weekends: The program skips weekends, thus improving the speed of download.
By this feature, we are not able to download Data on some special trading days that fall on Saturdays and Sundays like murat trading. (diwali murat trading is just a few days away.)
To overcome the inconvenience, weekend check and skip may be done only when the 'From Date' and the 'To Date' are NOT the same.
To handle such special rading days, user will select the same date as FromDate and ToDate and avoid the weekend skip routine.
2) Some important BSE indices like OIL&GAS, TECK, CG, FMCG, HLTHCARE are not being downloaded. They also may be provided to make the indices complete.
3) NFTYMCAP50 Futures are downloaded by XTalk EOD. THe corresponding index (NSEMIDCAP as at NSE site) on which these futures are based is NOT provided. The index may also be provided, and be named as 'NFTYMCAP50' so that the index and corresponding futures come one after another in the dowloaded file and the TA software.
4) The converted files are named in the format DDMMMYYYY (Ex: 17OCT2010.TXT). While sorting in the windows explorer, this results in difficulty in locating a file by sorting. If the files are named in the hirarchial format YYYYMMDD (Ex 20101017.TXT), sorting datewise is meningful and helps in easy identification of an old file.
5) For futures, Open Interest is also downloaded and is very useful in TA. For stocks, the OpenInterest column presently shows as zero. This column may be filled with delivery volumes (Total volume - Intraday volume = delivery volume). The delivery volumes, if provided can be used in a way sililar to OI in furures and the same AFL applied to both futures and stocks.
The % delivery volumes can be obtained from:

6) The program Demands that this program may always be on top, otherwise the window becomes grey and is reporting error and stops download. While downloading a large range of data initially or after a long gap, this is irritating. The program may be able to run in the background also, so taht user may do other works while download is in progress.
7) For futures, the suffix '-I' or '-II' or '-III' is now added to each stock. This makes the maximum character length of the symbol for a future to 14 (10=Max length of a stock + 4(maximum suffix length). In Amibroker, the ticker combo-box width is unfortunately very small and the symbol will not be displayed in full, bringing confusion.
To overcome this problem, user may be given the option to chose the future month suffix. Those who want to overcome the problem may choose the suffixes like just '1' or '2' or '3'. This brings the max char length to just 11. With this length, the ticker is fully visible in the AB ticker combo-box.
As an example, the far end month futures for the stock INFOSYSTCH will be INFOSYSTCH3 (11 characters) instead of INFOSYSTCH-III (14 characters).
I request you to look into the possibility of incorporating these changes and release the next version as a Diwali gift to Traderji members.
May god bless you with happiness for your noble gesture of making available the downloader and supporting it.
Thanks and regards.
