I love to read... It is a habit ingrained in me from childhood. While in college, I used to read 3 books a week. Now it is 3 books a month. Why do I read.? A good book, takes me to a place where I can experience knowledge, wisdom or thrills without leaving my home. It stimulates my imagination. I learn from someone who has experienced something unique and has a story to tell. At times, my favorite way of relaxation is to go to a bookshop, and spend hours there, lost in the fascinating world created by words.
While earlier I used to read stories (fiction) these days, I prefer to read non-fiction - true stories and experiences. Just sharing my list of top ten (will exclude books related to trading) but if I had to - it would include - The big short, of the trade taken by John Paulson, which made him a billionaire many times over in about a year and half it took for the trade to workout. (This book is fascinating not because Paulson made so much money, but it gives an idea of what input, challenges and obstacles were overcome in making the trade)
So my top 10 book (not related to trading) in no specific order :
1. Many Life many masters - Dr. Brian Weiss
2. The art of learning - Josh Waitzkin
3. Pappilon - Henri Charriere
4. Rich Dad Poor Dad - Robert Kiyosaki
5. Outliers – Malcom Gladwell
6. The power of positive thinking – Dr. Norman Vincent Peale
7. Maximum City – Suketu Mehta
8. The power of your subconscious mind – Joseph Murphy
9. Surely you are joking Mr. Feynman – Richard Feynman
10. Anatomy of the spirit - Caroline Myss

A movie on his early success, fame and pressures of competition and expectations, led him to move into study of Tai Chi n where he becomes a world champion in a totally different field of martial arts - T'ai chi ch'uan.
Pappilon - Henri Charriere - A convicted murderer who claimed innocence, escapes from a penal colony in French Guiana. A wild adventure follows.
