Hi Saint
Is ABAN OFFSHORE in an intemediate uptrend? I've attached the weekly and the daily charts. Both of these are showing higher pivot highs and higher pivot lows. However, I feel a retracement is due on the daily. Can a position be taken on the daily after the retracement?

[NB: Chart updated upto Friday last. Doesn't contain today's data.]

Hi Saint,

This response " .. there are better ones out there to visualise and trade..... " has been spinning my wheels for quite some time now. :)

Could you please explain the core idea behind selecting stocks to trade. You have said that the chart has to be clear. By "clear" do you mean that the recent pivots must form a decent gradient (in reference timeframe) and that, at the very least should not be range bound?

Please throw a lot of light on this. It seems this part of the process makes all the difference. :)

Even I am with jamit! :)
Out of so many stocks it is humanly impossible I think to find out when one is about to enter an UT/DT or break a pivot etc etc etc...
So it would be really nice to know wht conditions to feed into the query to get the list of potential candidates for a good move...
If not query then how one should do it?

I think this is what even jamit meant!

Yep,DJ.......ABAN in an intermed uptrend, daily in an uptrend with a decline in progress. Two ways to enter on this one:1.60min trend is down......Buy over a previous pivot high and then add more once prev pivot high on the daily is taken out.Stops as per daily charts.2.Buy once newer highs are made on the daily with stop at recent pivot lows.

Ah,Amit, don't let anything spin your wheels,my friend.

Clean:An uptrend is made up of higher pivot highs and lows, downtrend lower pivot highs and lows.........the action is smooth.Curvature, gradient all smooth........not scratchy, lines all over the place.

Ugly:Scratchy, lines taking out previous pivot highs, next day previous pivot lows......too many gaps, lines,no clear cut patterns, etc

In a nutshell, look for charts that allow you trade without giving you nightmares..........There are charts out there with beautiful patterns and pivots, and then there are the others.........

Sorry for being as vague as possible..........difficult to communicate beauty or anything abstract except by "not this, and not that".......more of indications,pointers,.............not really descriptions and definitions.

Just keep track of the yummies and the uglies as I keep shooting my mouth off........think you'll find the pattern of what I am looking at and what I am pointing to.

Ah,MB........I look through the whole lot on the weekends, zero it down to a few and then keep track through the week if entries and exits are met.

No feeding in ....... just scan through them, and the yummy ones leap out of the charts begging for an entry into them.

Saint

ps:think there are softwares and the works that you can feed in whatever, and help to zero things down......I think......do find out.For me though,........eyeballing is everything.

As an example... look at daily charts of TATA CHEM, SESA GOA, MAH LIFESPACE.
Now, compare these charts with those of AIA ENGG, EKC....

Thanks Saint, letting know how you choose stocks!
That requires lots of hard work! So you must have some stocks in the list... say the futures stock which you go through the weekend right? Else it is difficult to go through thousands of stocks rgt?

Well no substitute for hard work... tht is the messege :) from your side!
