If my guess is right it was the market makers' ploy known as 'Gunning the Stops'. Slashing the PEs' premium on its way - the cherry on the cake! ;)

Let's see whether next session starts with this confirming sweet sound: 'Please mind the gap.'

Can't wait. Yee-haa!!!

Depends on what you buy and what you sell. 10 CR is just the net value. You can buy index and sell non-index to drive up the index.
Not sure how this is possible !

If you sell non-index, it will not affect the index value, then how can you drive it up ???

In some earlier post, Linkon had said, shorts can move market up - maybe something of that sort.

You buy the index scrips, it drives the index up. Then you sell the non-index scrips, and it reflects in your "sell" figures, maybe affects the index futures to a very small extent.

Maybe covered PE shorts !

Did you notice LTP of PE is lower than settle price.

And, LTP of CE is higher than settle price. :)

Aah LTT! What can I say? Forgive me, I never had the time/knack/patience to explain the obvious to intelligent people like you! Call up SG. Believe me, he is the guy who will tell you how to look past the mundane. :D

The settlement price is calculated on the basis of last 30 min. trade. When the index moves up, Ce price also goes up and hence LTP will be higher than settlement price. Inverse in the case of PEs.

timepass, see the table you posted earlier today.

Index Futures have been sold for 367Cr.

In addition, Stock Futures have been sold for 244Cr.

Scratch these. Someone just reminded me Nifty is open tomorrow. I forgot.
I feel better about it. I didn't like the 4873 <> level being about half way between the WR1>WR2. Tomorrow's movement might add whatever is needed to form an additional confluence at the top of the cloud / TL combo.

Here are the weeklies for Nifty--010812

Nifty 5016.39 4908.72 4843.86 4714.14 4649.28 4541.61

This past ended nicely as the WR3 at 4815 capped off the upside action.
Price action has broken through the 4-hour cloud, as I talked about earlier. Next week watch for a reaction at the WR1 at 4843, as it also coincides with the weekly kijun at 4834. We are also nearing the reversal point as the containment level is circa 4873.
I also talked about how the bottom of the 4-hour cloud would not have made a good reversal area to get back in the downtrend, because the reversal would not have been as powerful and predictable.
On the downside, the level to watch for is 4667. When it is broken, you'll know it, as the move will be accompanied by a very stronger than usual candle. The next move could very well be the one that takes us into the 4300's, but that remains to be seen.

Okay, now that you know where we are headed, and you got the road map in hand, we just need to hear from Taurus when it will happen--lol.
