Ok,
2 Weeks to go expiry, and max pain at present comes around 2800 ( actually it shifted from 2850 in noon to 2800 at closing).
Obvious support from 2700 and resistence hovering at 2838-2880-2907 makes the situation good for premium eater.
So lets take a "chance" by writting 2800CE and 2800PE.
Odds in favour : Option Pain, Time, Cooling Vix
Odds in against : Increase in volatility (Vix)

really nice post and very interesting this option pain thing, billion thanks for option oracle, able 2 feed nifty data and its giving potential risk/reward ratio according to option strategies really fast but not yet able 2 get option pain chart, should i feed data in close basis ( right now option data i feed in the form of bid ask form ) or is it works on live markets only ?
also is it possible to feed data to option oracle from excel or other data providers instead of getting data from their own server? ( as i found open interest of nfty options is missing in it )

Hi alex,

I am a follower of this thread, especially you, sunil, kamalesh and Dumdum charts are educative, thx. Let me take this opportunity to answer your query.

Option oracle works in all time with nse server.Just you need to configure it with ask/bid long download in nse server. Moreover option pain chart will be seen only on fresh download of data. Option oracle not supports any excel sheet feed for time being.

I think my ans may get you some idea.

it is exactly, i was going to reply to alex.
Once u have refresh/downloaded data during market or after market, u can save that for later use. This way every strategy and also pain chart will be usable with last saved data.

Thanx sir you are really so nice
All says options is good for trade and in that it says its risky why????
sorry thnx button is not with me
lucky, im sorry i cant tell/teach you every basic thing about option, instead its best to learn yourself from daily market activities and with theory/ebooks/sites.
remember " Log thokar kha ke thakur bante hain" --- this market behaves the same.
for your startup in options look,

http:// w w w.optiontradingpedia.com (remove spaces)

and the two books ( which even i have dloaded 2 days back, planning to read as their material facinates me)

http://www.4 shared. com/file/33123362/f7a6c8d3/Options_And_Options_Trading_A_Simplified_Course.html?s=1

http://www.4 shared. com/file/69636764/e2e77d2a/Options_Trading_The_Hidden_Reality__Charles_Cottle_-_2006_.html?s=1

Dont jump directly on the 2 books, they are really hidden gems and will benefit once you go thru the basics of options in above site.
Rest is on your luck:D

hi dumdum,

I dont think so Option Pain chart will work with saved data for further use.All other strategies will work with saved data, except option pain, volatility smile/cone.If I am wrong somewhere please correct myself. In my exp I can't able to use those three charts (option pain,Vol smile/cone) with saved data. If any way to use those three with saved data, pls let me knw the steps for it.

Thx

Hi trillian,
there might be missing some points, its working with save data, i offed net connection to be sure - still it loads and plot. See this

Once u have refreshed/dloaded data, open each chart -- option pain, put call ratio and volatility smile -- then close them. fourth chart is volatility cone which will display after historical data download-- different from previous but will be automatic once u click volatility cone button.
Now close this chart also and click save. your work/data will be save as
1)...documents/OptionOracle/Nifty.opo ( saves ur data as well as 1st 3 chart)
2)...documents/OptionOracle/History/Nifty.oph ( saves historical data to load volatilty cone chart)

Quit the app, close net and then restart app and see whether things work or not. I think u already using OptionsOracle 1.4.2.0

thanks dumdum and trillion for help, its working perfect, i can get option pain and other charts.I liked that greeks calculator which instantly gives theta price (by black-scholes model ) and yes trillion option pain is working with saved data.
Only thing is oracle downloads all kind of junk data also like one year option chains...lol ..
btw while calculating greeks its considering risk free interest rate as 5.5 % is it correct folks ? i loose the track of interest rate recently.

one of my finance friend told me to use risk free interset rate as

2006 --- 6%
2007 --- 7%
2008 --- 8% till date
