Yes Jamit,

NSE India website, Option Chain and u can see what % increase in OI for any strike price of Puts n Calls, what is OI for any and all Puts n Calls.

Max OI now at 4300 calls and 4000 puts, so expect mkt to be between these 2 levels as of now. If 4300 breaks then next max OI for calls are 4600-4700.
If OI for 4300 increases then we are moving down, else inverse....

Linkon - will u post the link for the above data for me and other members here too -- thanks.
Murtaza Bhai: Thanks for nice explanation on OI. Can you share more information on how to interpret OI numbers... ?

Cheers,

Heems

Dear Nishikant Ji,
I've been going through your thread to learn more about Nifty Fifty. I'm an NRI and haven't traded Indian markets so far.

You mentioned this in the below message:

"FIIS CHEATED ON ME

NO PROBLEM, WE WILL GET THEM FIIS NEXT TIME".

Who are 'FIIS'? Pardon my ignorance, just trying to understand.

If anyone can answer for Nishikantji, they're welcome....

Thanks so much
Shreenath

Re: Please don't scold me

NOBODY IN THE MARKET CAN TELL YOU WHEN THE MARKET WILL FALL OR RISE.

SOME BIG ANALYSTS ON CNBC TV18 WERE SHOUTING THAT SENSEX WILL HIT 25000 & NIFTY WILL HIT 7000.

WHAT HAPPENED????

MARKET COULD NOT SUSTAIN ABOVE 21207 & 6357.

ITS ALL IN THE GAME.
Very nicely said.

im a very new member here and very new to the trading world and at least from the last 1 or 2 months i have been visiting this thread every day and i must say that the predictions are very accurate.
I feel happy that some one like Mr Nishikanth is ,Even after his busy schedule is taking time out and helping people like us here.

Hello there,
How can you tell that FIIs are buying or selling? Do you watch bulk trading in volumes.....?
If someone is on the exchange trading pit/floor, I guess it's easy to pick them up when they buy or sell. Just learing the nuances behind Nifty Fifty here.
Thanks so much

Hello Ravi,
Thank you for the info. Does the NSE publish daily/intraday data for trades categorizied under different categories including FII?

Here in US, we have the COT report which is published and updated every day and includes activities by small speculators, large speculators, institutional investors, etc etc.....

It looks like data might be available similar to the above for NIfty.....

Thanks
Shreenath

FII and FDI means that for every Dollar invested in India by them, they take back three (3) dollars back. Is as simple as that.

every broker has to intimate the trades onbelf of FII's to the exchange along with the order placement and both BSE and NSE collate the figures and give provisional FII buy & sell figures on the same day evening.

SEBI on its part, collects this information from custodians of FIIs on daily basis and reports the figures the next day.

figures under both the methods should match but it so happens that SEBI's data contains market deals, off market deals, private placements and a lot of other things which are not disclosed.but, is a exact gauge of FII flows.

However, traders generally go by the figures given by the exchanges because, the effect of the activities of FII's on price is more,

hope it serves your purpose.

Subsequent to my post as above, I thought of google it my self and found some good piece of information as below...

What is Open Interest
Open Interest is the total number of outstanding contracts that are held by market participants at the end of the day.

It can also be defined as the total number of futures contracts or option contracts that have not yet been exercised (squared off), expired, or fulfilled by delivery.

Open interest applies primarily to the futures market. Open interest, or the total number of open contracts on a security, is often used to confirm trends and trend reversals for futures and options contracts.

Open interest measures the flow of money into the futures market. For each seller of a futures contract there must be a buyer of that contract. Thus a seller and a buyer combine to create only one contract.

Therefore, to determine the total open interest for any given market we need only to know the totals from one side or the other, buyers or sellers, not the sum of both.

The open interest position that is reported each day represents the increase or decrease in the number of contracts for that day, and it is shown as a positive or negative number.

How to calculate Open Interest

Each trade completed on the exchange has an impact upon the level of open interest for that day.

For example, if both parties to the trade are initiating a new position ( one new buyer and one new seller), open interest will increase by one contract.

If both traders are closing an existing or old position ( one old buyer and one old seller) open interest will decline by one contract.

The third and final possibility is one old trader passing off his position to a new trader ( one old buyer sells to one new buyer). In this case the open interest will not change.

Benefits of monitoring open interest

By monitoring the changes in the open interest figures at the end of each trading day, some conclusions about the days activity can be drawn.

Increasing open interest means that new money is flowing into the marketplace. The result will be that the present trend ( up, down or sideways) will continue.

Declining open interest means that the market is liquidating and implies that the prevailing price trend is coming to an end. A knowledge of open interest can prove useful toward the end of major market moves.

A leveling off of open interest following a sustained price advance is often an early warning of the end to an uptrending or bull market.

Open Interest - A confirming indicator

An increase in open interest along with an increase in price is said to confirm an upward trend. Similarly, an increase in open interest along with a decrease in price confirms a downward trend. An increase or decrease in prices while open interest remains flat or declining may indicate a possible trend reversal.

The relationship between the prevailing price trend and open interest can be summarized by the following table.

Murtaza Bhai:

Sorry to come back on this again... I have a query...

You mentioned that if OI for 4300 Calls increases then we move down else inverse...
If we look at the explanation as per below table - if there is a rise in OI and rise in price... The market is strong but you mentioned that if OI increases for 4300 we move down...

I am confused.. Please guide... I guess I am goofing up some where...
