Hi preston,

So, you reached the work and reported at NSEDD, great.

More than 10 days problem looks to have been solved, let us hear from pra also.

But two issues raised by me in my post to be responded.

1) When I select Indice update, why change format gets deselected?

2) And even when I reselect it, why data conversion to a format acceptable to AB and other SW does NOT take place?

I am at home right now but will leave tommorow evening. To answer you question, when you select 'Add indice' the 'change format' is automatically selected because the Indice info is atached to the reformated bhavcopy file only not to the raw data downloaded from NSE. If you select Indice update and then select change format the Bhavcopy is reformatted to the AB format and the Indice data is downloaded seperately. I hope that answeres your questions.
Murthy this may be another topic but I wanted to know about some Tax questions and started another thread but no one hase replied to my question... Could you please help me?

When the change format is checked, the data format is getting converted to AB format with both stocks and indice, but the file name for stocks is not changing in line with the user option 'use date as file name. This is what I have pointed out.

Dear Pryston & Murthymsr

Great service from Pryston & you. Yes Indice problem solved. I would request to Myer that pl, make another option to get final data as stock EOD (now it is Date EOD) also i.e. user selectable and full operation guidelines in text fomat or pdf format in your utility.

Please try the 'Ticker History' button under 'Live Quotes' for this functionality together with From & To Date Range. May be this is what you are looking out for.

Hello Murthy & Pra,

I am working on some major changes to the program trying to make the interface more clear to understand and operate but it will take some time before it is ready, as I have to change alot of code and rearrange the flow of information & Logic. As you know the program started of as a simple utility to download info but has become more complicated in bits and pieces therefore there are some old redundant code that have to be removed and a lot of what i call patch work code that has to be streamlined and be made more efficient etc.

Hi Preston,

I had a cursory run of the new program.
Stock historical is shifted to a place, it belongs, good.
General functioning is good.

Following are the points to be addressed, being new ones added in this update.

1) The folder opening (the two boxes with dots and the 'O' is not working for all the four locations.

2) The historical files are saved to the root directory of the program instead of the Historical folder selected.

3) Under Live quotes option, the folder for Live quotes continues to be described as 'Live Quote & Historical File Directory'. This may be renamed as 'Live quote File Directory'.

I think it' time for your packing, not for the next revision.

Hi preston,
I still find you online, may be waiting for my response.
Other problems attended.
Only 2) pending.

The stock historical file is going to the root directory where the NSEDD program is installed, and NOT into the HIST folder selected by me. Also, the saved filename is very funny and that itself may give the clue for the error.

The filename is 'HistABGSHIP2008112820081128'.

As my historical folder name is 'HIST' and the first four letters of the file name also is 'HIST', I feel a slash is missing in the code where it should have been. Also you may notice the date repeating twice.
