at last find some one who is a software developer or engineer and stock market
perticipent. as developing charting tools for non stock market perticipents is dificult. mine has some friends offline but they dont know stock market and perhaps they r not suitable for developing plugins for charting tools.thanx techdump but i dont know do u continue now in this forum

Dear Mani,

Sorry for your annoyance annoyed...

Since Yah00 backfill is 15minutes delayed, you won't get upto date/second backfill. You can avoid this by using ODIN Backfill facility. If power cut or internet problems and you were not able to see the left-out/timeout data's then you can do it via ODIN Backfill facility.

Procedure to use ODIN Backfill: (backfill todays NSE/BSE/MCX/NCDEX/NSE F&O/BSE F&O)
1. In ODIN, right click on any script and you can see an option named "Intraday Charts" with Ctrl+I as hot key. - Select this and you can view the chart starting from 9am.
2. During this time, a data file will be saved at C:\ODIN\Diet\Chartdata in the format YYMMDD<<code>>N-I.dat
3. Note down the file name for the script you opened.
4. In ChartsData, click ODIN Backfill option and you can see the same filename listed (if your ODIN Chartdata folder is different, change it at the top of the window)
5. Give corresponding script name (use the same script name as in your TA charts else a new script will be created) for the ODIN file you noted above and click UPDATE (during this time, your TA-Ami, MS or Fc should be in updated mode).

dear techdump,
i was also face the problem by chartdata to meto stock data transform,for example due to current failure or internet failure the chart data does not backfill properly and at the time of reconnect three 5 minutes bar was missed and also refresh flicking is affect total screen..
pls how to avoid the above or improve the position?!!

Is the following correct?

1) Select yahoo for source
2) Add symbols like IBM or MSFT
3) Open Metastock software
4) Click on the update button to get realtime chart
5) Select backfill for the symbols

However the MSdata min folder is empty and there is no chart opening even the update is on? What is the problem?

Dear John,

No, the order was wrong - you should open Metastock before running ChartsData.

1. Open Metastock application
2. Run chartsdata and choose YAH00
3. Add/modify/delete scripts - scripts should not be less than 2
4. You should see the scripts updating in ChartsData watchlist and TA section was enabled
5. Select Metastock and click UPDATE (make sure that the refresh interval is more than 5 seconds and less than 20 seconds)
6. Wait for few seconds and check the metastock data folder (MinuteData under C:\chartsdata) to see for the creation/updation of script files (*.dat)
7. Select backfill option and do the backfill - backfill will be done only when TA is in updated mode (ie. updating realtime data)

Hope this helps and let me know if you are struck at any stage.

Can chartsdata backfill ODIN data at EOD ? What i mean to say is, suppose i did not trade today due to some reason. In the evening, when i open ODIN, today's data will still be there i.e i can view today's intraday chart for the script in my watchlist. I want to know can i backfill this data into Amibroker through chartsdata in the evening i.e after market hours?

is free version of Charts data over?..i downloaded it for commodity from ODIN, did all the steps and data is not flowing....can someone throw some light

chart data giving error on run. error is chart data has encountered a problem and dilouge box shows send-dont send options.

Dear tallmaster,

Yes, ChartsData has the option to backfill both Intraday and EOD.

Choose Amibroker and click UPDATE before backfilling else your backfill data's will not be taken to database.

Select 1min last 1day or 5min last 5 days or EOD (mention year) backfill option, choose the scripts from the list and click START to backfill.
