Hi everyone, been a silent reader. Glanced through the whole thread. First hats off to the efforts , patience to subhadip. Taking personal efforts to answer every post is amazing. Similarly great efforts to other seniors & learners as well in answering others and helping others. Just wanted to understand pivots and erls in sideways market.
Although this thread had promised discussion/explanation on the aforementioned topics but so far it has not been posted.

Pivots and ERLs are not to be used in sideways markets.These are trending markets tools.

Also one more thing I can say now... Every day I am evolving. Also reading up Al Brooks books.

So incorporated in the pivot based trading that too.

So it is now a bit of mixed up of every thing.

But basics are still the same.

When to go long:
1. Price in Visual Uptrend- comprising of Higher VPH & Higher VPL
2.Price pivoting above visual ERL of the downtrend.
3. In Visual Sideways, we will wait for an mPH to be formed above ERL

When to go Short:
1.Price in Visual Sideways;
2. Price pivoting below Minor ERL or Visual ERL
3.In Visual Sideways: we will wait for an mPL to be formed below ERL.

When nothing to be done:
When price enters Visual Sideways .

Thank you very much Subhadip. The basics you taught are the most important things that i was missing in my trading. What i understand from this is that when we have our basics clear and firm we can identify trend direction on various timeframes and understand what price is doing in the current situation. Once we know this we can apply any method or strategy of trading that we are comfortable with because we are understanding price action. :thumb::thumb:
QUESTION: I am watching Al Brooks video course, I find it very difficult to understand what he is trying to say. Can you please give me some advice on how to understand Al Brooks better! :gunsmilie::gunsmilie:
