Sure am amused by this thread but certainly am not making fun :)

Usually things are deeper than they appear, I am trying to understand people, markets and myself! I am yet to see a profession that reflects & magnifies a persons psychological makeup unlike trading. If Universe is a fractal, then I think trading perfectly captures all aspect of life/universe and in a weird way understanding trading-markets-people is my way of an attempt to grasp this universe/reality/life!

Read somewhere that "people exactly get what they want and what they deserve from markets!"

This applies even if they were losing, perhaps a part of them wants too !
Perhaps losing is a way of winning something else, for
eg: Initially you wanted to jump in trading with entry level knowledge but placed heavy bets to prove yourself as a bold person! Perhaps you always wanted to prove yourself (or to someoneelse) as one of those hotshots who made it big by just 'playing' smart (bcoz of sheer coolness-factor of the game!)!
you continued to lose because losing is well below your pain threshold,
you never took a disciplined approach in the beginning because you never *wanted* it !
why sit down and focus until the problem is big enough to cause a 'forced awareness' !

Eventually market gave you exactly what you wanted, i.e continued losses and a lingering pain that mildly exceeding your pain threshold!

Now after meeting both objectives (i.e proving yourself, a forced awareness) now you are on the next level.
A disciplined trader.

I think next levels could be becoming a 'professional trader' and then a 'Master trader' !

IMHO you never lost anything from DAY-1 , you simply are enjoying the ride and getting exactly what you wanted & deserved!

Goodluck with your journey :)

PS: I might be slightly(or completely) off the mark in understanding you, just wanted to share my thoughts.

WELL SAID MAN.... GREAT!!:clapping::clapping:

Wah.. wah..!
What remarks man! Well said.:clapping:
Got lost in your words and for a minute I felt you were talking about me.
(I lost around 5.5 lacs last year during the correction, due to indiscipline, over-trading, no stop-loss, no strategy, carefree attitude etc..)
Since then stopped trading and stayed invested. Got about 50K. Recently started day trading again(with strict discipline and stop-losses), sometimes gets between Rs. 400-3500/-, maximum i got is 4000.(in the olden days used to get 25k and 35k daily... and have lost upto 60K in one trade.
But now I am happy. Started learning about pivots and moving averages but not yet implemented them.

Closed all open position
So, cap 100k and profit 38000 rs

First time after this new setup incurring heavy loss...
I'm very sure you will recover all your losses by 2014-2015 :thumb:

Coz you are doing well for yourself now! Just continue doing that....and by 2014-2015 you will get 16 Lakhs (or more!) coz I sense that :)

almost 15 days now and cant able to move the number anywhere ....
its gettting proved ...trading is a tough way to earn money --
Trading the markets is like driving a car....on some stretches you drive at 50-60 kmph as normal speed ...on some crowded roads you do 10-15 kmph....on Expressways you do 120 kmph......

The trouble with we traders ( I am no exception) is we expect to do 60 kmph when the road is giving us 15...and we feel sad that we are not doing well....and we expect to do 60 when the road is good for 120 and we feel a false sense of satisfaction that " we are doing great". And we either get overaggressive or overconfident.

Needless to say that we will reach our destination if we dont have a serious accident anywhere on the way....and accidents can happen on Expressways, normal roads or even slow traffic roads. We have to make sure that we follow all safety precautions on all stretches to avoid any serious accidents.....minor body dents are part of driving/taking the car out on roads (body dents = money we loose on stoplosses)....

So just avoid the serious accidents and getting trapped in traffic jams perpetually and make sure that dents dont make the car body out of shape and we will be home sooner or later.
