Might be. for all those lossing like us, treating trading as Gambling in Casino.
at the end we serve to the big fish like a gambler donates to CASINO and never come out of this vicious circle unless some thing major twist happens in life. NOM.

@stock72

sorry to hear about your loss story.

Trading is so totally counter intuitive, if you play straight you will lose.

How much time and effort have you put in *LEARNING* first?

There are lots of classics on trading, here is one of my favorites.

"Trading Rules that Work The 28 Lessons Every Trader Must Master"
by Jason Alan Jankovsky

if you are incurring loses, first thing to do is cut down your positions to minimum, until you fully understand why you lost, there is no hope in repeating the same thing. Do you have a trading journal to review your trades, a trading plan?

I think you lost much because you started playing without knowing the rules! I too have lost but I have a personal circuit breaker, I stop trading if I lose a certain amount in a single day .

Options are excellent but FUTURES are awesome for BIG GAINS :thumb:

Margins are best if YOU can digest some MTM notional losses for the time-being.....I personally love Cover orders and NORMAL margin orders and they offer margins enough if requested :thumb:

A back tested mathematical system gives
2007-590 points of Nifty
2008-1870 points of Nifty
2009-390 points of Nifty
2010-570 points of Nifty
2011-1115 points of Nifty
2012 - 12 points of Nifty so far.
Is that this is system is worth to follow and execute or it may not even fetch 8% profit of the capital deployed ? bit confused .. any help pls ...

Very poor system performance.....there are many methods which will give much better returns even trading on 60 min or daily charts....look out for a better method.

about 1000 pts a year. Ok. But past performance is not a guarantee of future performance.

Hey, If you are seriously looking for help, my advise is to first learn and practice with a successful trader/analyst that you know. I am not a great fan of mathematical systems - human eye and intuition are best judges for me. The trick is to follow trading rules - primarily money management; there is no dearth of right opportunities (even the simplest moving-average-cross strategy can produce good results over a period of time).

PS - just curious - if you are using this mechanical system, how come you blew up 13L? The system performance is not bad.

Cheers,
Irfan

But ST,

again back tested from 2000 and the results are

2000-565
2001-340
2002-110
2003-580
2004-565
2005-495
2006-400

if we divide these points to the average nifty of that particular year and averaging for 12 years the percentage is 20%. I guess in other word the deployed capital will give yearly 20% return . is that poor performance ? ST , pls guide .
the other question is by these mathematical system we are not falling in to dilemma..that too the action we need to take at the time of closing the market whether to hold long , or go short or exit.

pls advise
