Monthly stockwise average range when plotted combinely against months, it gives an amusing picture...

The sad part looks that the overall average intraday range is declining from Jan 2009 ... syat It should mean intraday profit scope is declining from Jan 2009... :(

Why??... can we interpret something from this???
==> Are the trades/investors getting emotionally dead??
==> stocks are reaching their saturation limit??

Some stocks are showing increase in average intraday range than past months ...:thumb:

This should also be taken serious contendors for intraday play for this month ... syat!!

So these Rising stars are ...

hey priyanvada.

nice effort.

He who builds according to every mans advice will have a crooked house.
so, please go ahead with you findings. suggestion from my side is try ATR 14 or 21 on the stocks you have short listed, which will give you an idea about the price range.

The sad part looks that the overall average intraday range is declining from Jan 2009
this could be because prices have risen more than 100% and you are calculating % variance.

cheers.

... Nopes, Actually when I woke up morning I was thinking that chart only and funnily I was also thinking same!! Had is been double or little more than that it would have matched my hairs...

Still I am curious about how the daily range behaviour plotted over month looks ... that would also give some more information ... so lemme see....:thumb:

hi priyanvada.

good morning.

I think these will be of some help.

Most important thing to learn before trading is to understand YOU. Learn about your nature, your emotions, your courage, your risk taking capacity. A trading timeframe, which is comfortable to me may not be suitable to you or to your friend. I may be a little slow to react and you may be swift in action. A person has to experiment and find out which time frame is most suitable for his style of trading. There is no one size fit all.
Have you observed how a lion hunts its prey? You must have seen it on TV.
Does the lion chase each and every animal in its sight? Does it try to hunt each and every animal that it can see? It does not. It runs after only those animals, which it feels that it can hunt and which it can overpower and which is within its reach.

Similarly, you need to take only those trades where the ratio between the commensurate profit and the attendant risk is skewed largely in favour of profit. You need to take only those trades where you are absolutely sure of future movement and its direction. Preservation of capital is first priority. If you are doubtful of the outcome of the trade, stay away from it. If you miss one trade, the market will not come to an end. But if you do not have any capital to trade, surely your trading carrier is going to end. Remember that and always
