Metatrader4 popularly called MT4 is offered by Metaquote to all Forex brokers who are signed up with them for a monthly fees of about 962 odd Dollars...and is available free when you sign up with a broker either for Real account or Demo account.....downside being that only few Indian scrips and Nifty are available through brokers such as GCI....most others who offered most of NSE Cash & Futures for free initially....wanted a regular fees for the Data....!!!

Amibroker is just a charting software.....one will be required to use DDE Plugin to extract data from Odin....alternatively there are many who offer Real Time Data for Amibroker and other platforms for a monthly fees...!!!

SG

Can anybody let me know whether MetaQuote or AmiBroker is worth buying and what are the charges for that?I am talking from IntraDay perspective. Thanks

ODIN is a Trading Terminal provided by most Indian brokers to their clients....in most cases it is free......it is an .exe based program.....while there are others such as NOW, only for NSE scrips & futures and is developed by the NSE guys.

Hi Here is today's trade in SBI APR Fut using Quadra on 5 min Time Frame. The chart is posted below with annotations.

SBIN opened gap down today and all MAs bent down. The Wilders MAs crossed over to give a BUY trigger on the 10:25-10:30 candle. The next candle confirmed the trigger by taking out the high of trigger candle. Placed buy order and got executed @ 2145.15. The initial Stoploss was placed below the low of 9:45-9:50 candle @ 2123.05. From 10:25 to 12:30 the price was range bound, so the SL was not moved. When the price broke out of the range, the SL was moved below the low of 11:55-12:00 candle @ 2140.40. Later SL was again moved up to below the 13:35-13:40 candle @ 2166.05. A Sell order to exit was placed @ 2180.65 at 13:00. When the price came near the target, the target was moved up to 2187.65 at 13:55. When the price came near to this target again I tried to move it above 2190 but before the modification was typed, the Sell order got executed @ 2187.65 at 13:56.

Precisely articulated Anant Ji but except for one thing which I couldn't understand. The exit target was predefined using some other method, I guess. I've failed to notice any exit strategy in this thread so far. Not sure if SG or you have mentioned it anywhere in this thread apart from 50 EMA cross over
You are right....currently no exits are defined for this strategy...so TSL is your only exit!

Each trader has different exit strategies...say based on candlestick patterns...pivot breaks on lower TFs...lower EMA breaks..etc...so opinions are welcome where an exit with the best possible results are incorporated into the strategy!:thumb:

Hi Bharat,

It is primarily based on the fact that Trend doesn't easily change once it starts.....it is the 'natak' that happens within the trend that creates all sorts of emotional havoc with trader's mindset....and thus making a trader exit at wrong places and most times with losses....!!!

Hopefully, Quadra will take care of all the emotional roller coaster...!!!
