Performance should be same as posted in the first post where basically only Swing High & Low has been utilised....!!!

There is one Backtest in progress....which is being done as Bar Replay.... that means from wherever I start the backtest each EOD candle appears... after a pause....though extremely time consuming....but result should be very robust...without any subjectivity....!!!

Yes i am. infact i have started trading commodities using this technique along with RSI for reference. i have also backtested this strategy on about 10 equities and results are quite good. i am using 9, 15 and 21 EMA along with 50 EMA.

Does anybody having a better tweak for hourly trading.
Hi Nick ,

Waiting for all the rules to come out still thinking of following

1- When 50 EMA and other WMA gives signal then take trade when 5 bar pivot break in the dirrection , and initial Stop is just prev 5 bar pivot high/low

Trail Stop using some delayed exit strategy like

a- Sh's 15 MA touch
b-trail stop to a pivot of 5 bar once we hit a new high low
c-convert it into a daily timeframe trade

2-Take cues from Daily trend like Daily given signal through Quadra then trade 60 min as above or can reduced to more lower Time frame like 15 min / 10 min to do positional trading

but in above case we miss the oppertunity when a reversal happens as we wait for daily to go above /below 50 EMA

and If we keep trading only hourly not takijng reference from daily then some time we may stuck into a range when daily goes into like march april month

So should find some way to tackle this situation

Any way waiting for all the rules and AFL to come out then we will discuss this in new thread on intraday

I think there should be another thread like "positional using lower time frame" :D

Actually i have not backtested with some system i have just done it with the help of charts from forexpros.com.

Rules
same as described in above posts taking into consideration 50 EMA as general trend.9>15>21 = buy. and 21>15>9 = sell.

Also i take into consideration RSI MA. when MA of RSI is above 50 i go buy and when its below 50 i go for selling.

Add would be done when previous lows or high is taken out.

These are the P/L of some of the stocks and that of nifty.

All the trades are on futures of the stocks as it gives the opportunity to trade both ways.

Hi Nick
Looking at your report it seems stocks giving more return than index in same period of time ... :D

I was in view that index trading is better than any indivisual stock as dont know how to pick stock from so many

Yes...Dinesh, but one would need to buy 5 paise above todays High...!!!

There are others, FAGBEARING, GRUH, BALMLAWRIE, SCHNEIDER, AMRUTANJAN, TRENT, TATACOFFEE, SHREEASTHA, TALWALKARS, BASF & HAVELLS ...for those among these which have had a huge jump ....one will need to wait for pullback or reversal to mean...for an Entry....!!!

In case of huge run-up scripts, are we looking to enter near 5 WMA, 8WMA ?
Waiting for 5 & 8 WWMA is good for Intraday...but for EOD one may miss the bus.... thumb rule is that atleast 50% retracement of the WRBs should be sufficient....!!!

Sg sir below is the chart of Nifty in second half of 2010 after a intense sideways for months price breaks out and ran straight without giving any pullback oppertunity initially though it did pullback but near the end of the move ..... if we waitied for pullback then we may miss the bus

I was also thinking to enter after a pullback but this type of situation creating confusion ..... is there rules made to tackle this ? like you said 50 % retracement of WRB

Regards

Satyen,

Reference to entry on pullback was Only for equities.... Index does not run up 5-10 percent or more in a day.....moreover on the index we did have Shorts.... earlier... but after a few trades in the direction one has to step back and review....and calculate the RR.....whether it is worth it or not.....!!!

Even....machines which are labelled Automatic do not have the ability to repair themselves....!!!

Tried Intra Day trade today! Bought AxisBank @ 1025.75 and exited @ 1027. Trade was good initially but then had to exit at marginal profit. Good thing was entry and exits were clearly on the charts, in many other cases I tend to get stuck with the loss making scrip.

Hi satyen,

yes actually nifty gave a quite a lot of whipsaws during past 3-4 months so the results were almost even stevens.. i also booked profit using GFZ thats why the profit is much else who knows...

So still many more things to do towards making this a very good strategy...
