hi josh & sr114
i use trade tiger 2.4.0.4. i am highly impressed with this utility and have successfully configured it! but i am facing few practical problems. need ur help.
- though i have a broadband connection, sometimes the charts stop updating. by fluke i tried sumthing which worked. i changed the TF to tick & again to my preferred TF - it started updating! strange! but sumtimes this fluke didnt work. tht time i had to start AB once agian! can u tell what exactly is prob?
- when i start it again i miss few ticks (may be of ruffly 2mins). so i have to manually backfill the tick data for all scrips. as i use more than 25 scrips this process atleast take 5 mins! also, i have 2 do the same process if i am not starting my system before 9:15am. for example, if i start it @10am, i have to manually backkfill the data for it! is there any solution for this backfill problem as for EOD data too i have to manually do it for as many scrips? inshort 2-3 times i backfill IEOD & EOD everyday - that too more than 25 scrips
- am i doing the backfill correctly? is there any other automatic way?
- am i using too many scrips which is hampering the tick by tick update & hanging the amibroker sometimes?
- can you post the settings (general, preferences & database) so that i can know if i am getting wrong somewhere!
(NOTE: for backfill i save the .csv data from intra chart & import it through ASCII in amibroker)
to solve this backfill problem i tried one thing but that too in vain - i started amibroker before 9:15 and let it run uninterruptedly till after 3:30 pm. after 3:30 pm i saved the database with an assumption that the tick by tick charts which were getting updated have formed an automatic database. but the IEOD chart which has evolved at 3:30 pm through this process is somewhat different when i do complete IEOD backfill for that scrip.
so why this difference?
1st of all reduce the nos of scrip i the util - 25 is too much - be it for the util and also for backfilling.
for backfilling fata from trade tiger do the following - from chart set the tf as 0 (custom tf = 0) and take the data from Show-Data Listing , save it as the name of the scrip u have in ami, and import it thru Ascii import. (for that u define a format file)
for eod - dont have to update 2/3 times daily - do it once after regular market hours.
the intraday data will be in a database - u have to save it - so no discrepencies will be there if u do the ieod backfill afterwards
if u face any problem - post the snapshot. u also post ur settings - that if any rectification needed will be done asap
