SH's 315 Strategy - how to use if effectively

@ppmatkar:

I have read your post about quotetracker on page 23 of sh315 strategy.

I have successfully downloaded and installed QuoteTracker and added some my list of ticker also.

Quotetracer successfully is getting Intraday data, however I am not able to backfill.

Do I have to do some other setting or backfilling is only for subscribers.

Can you please guide ?

Thanks & Regards

Hi SH,

Could you pls suggest a good strategy for commodities trading. We can't apply SH315 to commodities as it is. Its generating more whipsaw/false signals due to volatile nature of commodities. We need to have some modifications in SH315 before applying it. I tried some combinations as using 10 ema instead of 15ema.
But I think we can still modify it further. I am confused:confused:. Can you suggest some other options?

Thks.

Hi Friends,

Learning to use effective SLs is the simplest yet the most powerful piece in 'Protecting Capital'.

The way I use my SLs under this strategy is that once my initial position has moved in more than 100 points profit, I use my entry point as my SL.

Though this sounds very naive to do that but it serves two very important functions:

1. First of all it avoids whipsaws. Ideally, in a good trade, when we make an entry based on 315, I would expect our ADD to happen once my initial position is in good profit. This means that after the initial entry, the market has trended in the direction of our position, corrected to touch 15 EMA and gave us an 'ADD' without touching our initial entry point. THIS IS A STRONG SIGN OF A TRENDING MARKET HENCE MAKES OUR TRADE MORE POWERFUL.

Cheers
SH
Dear SH,

I want to know one thing. Do you always consider 100 points move for SL? In case of Nifty which is trading around 4000 points, 100 points Higher or Lower may be a good SL point. But for a scrip that is trading around 120, what should be the SL point?

Raju
