Jan2009 started from 29th Dec
LatC= Long at Close
XonO=Exit on Open
RE=Reentry
Aat15=Add at EMA15
SatC=Short at close
Revto= Reverse to
If we strictly follow the rule to Exit at open if the Price is not touching 3EMA, then SH need to have had more trades becoz this means while we are lonh any open above the 3EMA would make us Exit!!! Such decisions are bound to be "individual specific" and makes the strategy a bit less mechanical!!!
For 23rd Jan 2009 my personal view is that SH has erred in mentining the Trade level or he might have posted the actual trade 'he' took on that day, though the Exit at 2700 as per my understanding cannot happen if we follow the rules!!! Fr all his shortcomings I agree with RtheR on this issue!!!
Request SH to kindly clarify this trade and the level!!!
Answering this query since Rkkarnani has asked it.. Raj The Royal and Tips Seeker will have to come with a new ID now to get answers from me :lol:
You are right RKKarnani .. in a strong trend almost all candles will have an opening above 3 EMA.. however discretion needs to be used to see how far the mkts have opened beyond 3 EMA... if its only 15-20 points.. why to exit and renenter and pay extra brokerage? But if its good 30-40 points beyond 3 EMA.. exiting and re-entering makes sense.
Regarding the trade in question, I exited at 2700 and I dont remember exactly why not 20 points higher or lower? Maybe I was busy that day until afternoon and hence couldnt close my positions at days open... I seriously dont remember what I did an year back.. i just know the exit from my ledger.
In any case, if people think this was a paper trade and i have manipulated numbers here to exit on days highs.. they need to think twice... This was a SHORT trade hence if I had to manipulate it .. I would have Exited near day's lows instead of days highs...
Please note that the spreadsheet was manually updated by me and i have tried to pick my 315 trades amongst a universe of other trades I had done and hence there can be errors on the spreadsheet. Also some entries/exits might not be at the exact level as per the rule book but that shouldnt cause more than 5-10% variation in the overall results.
For eg, yesterday I entered longs (trade updated in main thread) at 5185 instead of waiting for 5175 as per 315 rules. Now if one year down the line someone says since my entry was at 5185 and not at 5175 that means its a paper trade and hence this strategy is a trash ... god bless them!
The intention of posting the results was to give a bigger picture of results to people who had doubts in the strategy. I dont expect people to be questioning why exited at 2700 and not 2680 etc an year back .. thats not the point!
The point is to look at the overall returns (330% returns per annum), learn the technique and apply in the mkts....
Hope this clarifies.
Also, a humble request to all, please post all your queries in the main thread. I will not be replying here anymore.
Cheers
